As much as you may already be tired hearing about Alex Rodriguez and his relationship with his teammates and fans, you have to appreciate his honesty. When discussing first base candidates for the Rawlings All-Time Gold Glove award, several Yankees were asked to choose between Don Mattingly and Keith Hernandez. From the Bergen Record:Jason Giambi picked Mattingly for sentimental reasons – "Donnie was my favorite player" – while Alex Rodriguez was on the verge of choosing Hernandez because, as a die-hard Met fan growing up, "I watched every single Met on WOR for four straight years. I saw so much more of Mex than I did Donnie."Love him or hate him, at least Rodriguez knows his place, though at some point you wish he'd just forget about giving the P.C. answer and just speak his mind without trying to qualify his answer. I mean, can things really get any worse?
A-Rod didn't officially choose Mattingly, however, because as he said with a rueful smile, "Yankee fans already hate me."

Any answer he gives to that question would have been wrong. If he would have came out and said Mattingly the media would have called him a lyer since everyone knows he grew up a die hard Mets fan.

As anyone from New York will tell you , sports radio has killed ARod... ARod won the MVP 2 years ago but on
openning day last year they already treated him as though he was Fred Stanley.... Baseball is a team sport & though his post season play as ARod has admitted sucked I didn't see many of them who were much better last year.... If anyone should take the hit , it should be Mgr Torre... He made so many mistakes...
It's amazing how the media has scrutinized this guy for the past 4 years. Granted he is the highest paid player in sports, thus being microscopically examined w/every little move he makes is normal. What i can't understand is the hatred the yankee fans have for this guy; wasn't it just a few years ago Giambi ADMITTINGLY stated he took steroids---where's his boycott been?? Granted he produced well afterwards during the regular season, but he sucked as much as A-rod has in the playoffs! I think it would be best for the yankees to sever ties w/him; he ends up going to a championship caliber team (Mets??) and proves his true worth!
Is there a better 3rd basemen in the GAME? Come on Yankee fans! You havee become a bunch of spoiled rotten fans that don't know true talent when it hits youright between the eyes. When it is all said and done he A-Rod will be one of the greatest ever to have played. The irony of it all is if the Yankees win the world series this year and A-Rod belts 5+ home runs in the post season and hits 400 then all the nay sayers will all be on the band wagon. Shut up and start to support the guy, ultimately it will help the Yankees fueling A-Rod's delicate psyche!
a-rod was a cancer in seattle, a bigge cancer here in texas and now can't pull the wool over the eyes of the new york fans.... gee what a shame
he wasn't well liked in texas by his own teammates, and only a handful in seattle ( notably capt. lou )
would even talk with him ...
he has great talent but.... that is all... a real shame too
POINT BLANK........... A-ROD IS THE HIGHEST PAID PLAYER YES HE IS........HE IS ALSO THE BEST PLAYER IN MLB!!!!!!!!!!! SO STOP MESSING WITH THE GUY AND SUPPORT HIM! EVEN PLAYING OUT OF POSITION HE'S STILL THE BEST!
SINCERELY,
A SICK AND TIRED OF ALL THE AROD BASHING YANKEE FAN.
man he sure is hated
A-Rod is the best ball player of his generation, his play and his demeanor is always at championship caliber. The NY Yankee fans want no competition for their beloved Derek Jeter ( Who is a great player but no A-Rod ) even though A-Rod was generous enough to give up SS for Derek.I use to cheer for the team my favorite player was on but now I just root for the STAR and no baseball star can equaled A-rod his stats and star appeal should have landed him many commercial deals and the like. Alas, that salary, who in his right mind would turn down a raise! Get over it NY hes worth it and a bag of chips. GO AROD PLAY hard like Dale Murphy, Ernie Bank and other great shortstops of their generation.
You hit the grand slam! love you Alex yeah!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
