Nationals Can't Rely on Federal (Pony) Express

If the Nationals held a season opener, and only 10% of the fans showed up, did it really happen? We might find out, as FedEx (the company formerly known as Federal Express) is seriously botching the delivery of season tickets to Nationals fans ... many season ticket holders may not get their tickets until the night of April 2nd, after Opening Day would already be over:
"Let me just say this," Nationals President Stan Kasten said by phone Monday. "We are very, very unhappy."

Hundreds of fans were apparently given tracking numbers by FedEx, the company responsible for delivery, that indicated the tickets would arrive Wednesday, five days before the April 2 opener against Florida at RFK Stadium. Kasten said that those delivery dates were inaccurate, and club officials had been told "perhaps 90 percent of the tickets" actually would be delivered by Monday night.

The club switched delivery companies after using DHL last year. Asked why there were delays this season, Kasten said: "I don't think all the answers are known yet, but we had made some changes in the offseason. Obviously, more changes are necessary."

I don't mean to be sarcastic but, gee ... ya think?

This team is a strong candidate to lose 100 games this season. Opening Day might be going to be the only time that RFK Stadium is going to be filled to capacity, and it will probably be the loudest it's going to get this season. For a lot of the season ticket holders that plunk down hundreds of thousands of dollars on tickets, Opening Day will be the highlight of the entire season. And they can't go? FedEx: When it absolutely, positively, has to get there eventually.

I'll bet this never happened in Montreal (probably because they had so few season ticket holders, Andre Dawson would actually deliver the tickets door to door and be done by lunch. It would explain the bad knees).
