Steak Dinner's on Barry Zito

I guess when housing ads are posted for fans to host Giants minor-leaguers you know they're not well off. That's probably why one of the most generous players in the game, Barry Zito, put his $126 million contract to use on Wednesday, buying steak dinners for everyone at the Giants' Minor League complex.
The left-hander purchased steak-and-potato meals for 250 players, coaches and personnel at the Giants' Minor League complex. Zito wanted to bestow a token of appreciation for the farm system's accommodating him on March 20, when he pitched seven innings in an exhibition against the Los Angeles Angels' Class A Rancho Cucamonga club.
Let's see, 250 steak dinners at my low estimation of 20 bucks per, comes out to a $5,000 dinner the stud lefty catered. Now that's the way to treat the youngsters and set a good example.

Between this, and Zito's Strikeouts for Troops, which is one of the coolest athlete run charities around, I'd say Barry Zito is a pretty darn good guy, you know -- for someone who gets aroused by sports agents.
