That's one of the best baseball commercials I've seen ... but I guess even pillow fights are too much for the powers that be. From the Globe and Mail:
The Blue Jays and Publicis Toronto, the company that came up with the ad, felt the spot was innocuous. However, the Television Bureau of Canada, the watchdog that approves TV commercials for private broadcasters, thought otherwise. That's a little jacked up, if you ask me: the spot is good enough for public, government-supported television, but not good enough for private television. Here in the U.S., it's the exact opposite, where any piece of garbage can make it's way onto to the private networks but only educational and politically-correct shows (with the exception of when Billy Packer is on the Charlie Rose Show) make it onto PBS.
TBC refused to approve the commercial until the part showing the child being knocked to the floor was edited out.
The CBC, however, is able to broadcast the original version of the commercial. As a public broadcaster, it has its own rules for determining suitable commercial content and it was satisfied the ad met its standards.

Washed up? You realize he hit 39 home runs with 114 RBI last year, right? I hope I'll age so gracefully.

As far as I'm concerned, Frank Thomas needs togo back into the dugout and his limo. Now that he's washed up he needs a way to stay in the lime light, but when he was in his prime, he wouldn't give kids the time of day. Don't go away angry,Frank, just GO AWAY!

Gracefully refers more to ones character and disposition than home runs. I give him credit for his batting ability, but he's a big guy so with all that power and weight behind him, home runs aren't that difficult. He's still near the end of his career and needs a new way to stay in the public eye. The Big Hurt is not a hero! Thanks for the input.

That is about the dumbest thing I've ever read.
Killebrew was a big guy, too. He sucks! HRs are easy for him! I'd be more impressed if he stole a base! I'm more impressed when (if) David Eckstein and Jason Tyner go yard! They are small and cute!
That commercial is funny as hell.

Cindy,
You've given a whole new meaning to "clueless". Hitting a baseball is one of the hardest things to do with respect to hand-eye coordination. It's not just a matter of "size" and "weight" and "power".
I challenge you to take a 32 oz. bat and stand in the batter's box against a 95 mph fastball. It would be a treat seeing you bail out! You wouldn't have a whisper's chance of even touching the ball, much less even getting it out of the infield.
You should catch a clue before opening your mouth again. You won't look quite so stupid next time.
Power and weight. Gimme a break....

Frank Thomas deserves a lot of credit for his return to basebal last year and having an MVP season. Just about everyone was counting him out after he broke his foot in 2004. Anyone that says he's washed up does not know what they are talking about. This year, Frank will break the 500 home run barrier, something only 19 other players in the history of the game have done. Unlike many of his peers, Frank has done it steroid-free. Frank will go down in history as one of the very best baseball players ever.
