Daisuke Matsuzaka is probably the one player facing the most pressure this season: he's playing in Boston (which is pretty self-explanatory), there's an almost unprecedented amount of hype around him, and he's been rumored to have some kind of magical pitch in his repertoire. Of course with the pressure and stardom come the ads. He's getting an ice cream flavor named after him.Matsuzaka's name is so hot that it's about to be found in local freezers. Word has leaked out that Brigham's Ice Cream is about to announce that it is changing its Sox-based flavor, "Reverse The Curse," to "Dice-Kream." Seriously.Mmmmm. Dice-Kream. Sounds delicious!
In other Dice-K commercial news: On Nike's Japan website, you can watch what I believe to be Matsuzaka's first ad for the shoe giant. It pokes fun at the pressure that Dice-K will be facing this year and is somewhat similar to the spot they ran for LeBron James when he turned pro. Nike can only hope that Matsuzaka comes out of the gates as quickly as James did. He will make his highly anticipated debut this afternoon (2:10 EDT) against the Royals.
