I am a detached observer when it comes to the Yankees and Alex Rodriguez , but I've always been sort of fascinated with most Yankees' fans estranged relationship with the future Hall of Famer.
On Opening Day, he was booed and then given a curtain call in the matter of like three hours. That's just unusual, and it's sort of fascinating, especially when you consider just how talented A-Rod is.
Anyway, here's video from inside Yankee Stadium Saturday, right after A-Rod finished his joyous sprint around the bases. You'll notice no one is booing anymore, and one gentleman even throws out a couple "A-RAHHDDDD!!"'s. Who wants to take bets on how long that will last?

How many times will this question will pop up daily? Will A-Rod be booed today? Will he be traded? Are A-Rod and Jeter no longer friends. This must have been what it was like in 196 for Yankees outfielders Roger Maris and Mickey Mantle. Only the question then from each of a dozen reporters were Can you hit 61 homers? Do you think you can beat Babe Ruth's record in 156 games and not 162 games. Ugh! that and the same question for A-Rod makes me want to pull out my hair! (no wonder Maris' hair fell out in clumps in September of 1961. It wanted to get away from the reporters) And I'm not even the one being interviewed by the media. Can't the reporters come up with at least one original or intelligent unique question? For more on Maris and to get a taste of what A-Rod is going through you should rent Billy Crystal's baseball movie *61. It's the story of Mantle and Maris in 1961. It shows that reporters made up that Maris and Mantle hated each other despite them being very close friends. For heaven's sake, leave A-Rod and Jeter alone.
