Willingham crushed a game-winning, walk-off 3-run home run off Derek Lowe on Thursday leading the Marlins to a 3-0 win over the Dodgers. Upon arriving at home plate, Willingham was met with the typical celebration by his teammates. Except for one thing. It appears as if Miguel Cabrera jabs Willingham in the stomach. And check out Willingham's reaction:
Needless to say, Willingham does not respond lightly to being poked or punched by Cabrera (it's hard to tell exactly what Miguel did). Willingham immediately threw up his fists and gets into a position to fight, like he's Jake LaMotta or something in Raging Bull. If you see the top of the screen, one of the coaches even separates the two. And then the whole thing blows over quickly once Willingham realizes he just won the game with a walk-off home run. Seems to me like there's some bad blood between the two of them that becomes evident in the video.
Nope, no bad blood. The same thing happened in a Willingham walkoff homer last year. Well, it didn't involve Cabrera, but Willingham just doesn't like being hit and slapped by a bunch of teammates.
