The other day, we discussed the fracas between the Yankees and the Blue Jays after Alex Rodriguez distracted rookie third baseman Howie Clark with some sort of verbal exchange as Clark was attempting to field a short pop fly at third base. Clark claimed A-Rod said "Mine", while A-Rod says he said "Ha." Either way, Rodriguez was clearly trying to distract Clark, something many of you felt was a bush-league move. I, on the other hand, have a hard time drumming up much concern either way here, but apparently Joe Torre does not share my apathy:
"He may have been excited about the fact that we were leading the ballgame," Torre said Friday before his team's series opener at Boston. "It was probably inappropriate to do it at the time he did it, but you can't change it, unfortunately."Like I said, I don't really get the outrage here. I also have a feeling that people do this sort of thing far more often than anyone is letting on, and that since everyone likes to tag A-Rod with this sort of stuff, he's an easy target.
"They were angry," Torre said. "Oh, there's no question. I can't say I blame them, but what are you going to do about it? What's happened has happened."
"It's probably something he shouldn't have done," Torre said. "I don't sense he's going to do it again."
But come on, shouldn't we be talking about more important things ... like A-Rod's personal life?

I saw A-Rod play in A ball with the Appleton (WI) Foxes (now known as the Wisconsin Timber Rattlers).
I told my friend while seated at old Goodland Field that 'that guy' (Rodriguez) was going to be an MLB Superstar. He asked me why? I answered 'because he stands tall above the other players; he's ready for the majors.'
Little did I know he'd be THE greatest and the highest paid player in the majors.
I should have been a scout because I said the same thing about other players, like J.J. Hardy, Prince Fielder and Albert Puljois.
As for A-Rod's mistress; it's 'girlfriend,' not 'mistress.'
A-Rod is a class act who plays under a microscope. He should move back to Wisconsin where he started to bloom.

In 52 years of baseball I am absolutely amazed that an "I got it" made a professional baseball player making millions of $$$ drop the dam ball. I played and coached at every level of the game and we always had a special word we used in the infield to call off the other guy and changed it everytime a pop up was caught. You all have seen countless number of collisions because the communication has gone bad. This guy had no excuse to give up on that ball. There was no reason to back off, the ball was hit to him???
Toronto acted like a bunch of little spoiled brats. A-Rod didn't yell "I'VE GOT IT" Get over it Jay's

First off i'll say i don't like A-Rod. But come on these are profesional baseball players who should be able to focus. this is not cheating anymore than stealing bases, stealing sighns, decoying runners or saying hey batter batter swing.

Nothing wrong with that play. They teach that in highschools.
