Minor League Spotlight: Phillip Wellman Is a Madman

We all remember Asheville Tourists manager Joe Mikulik's famous tirade last year. Now, we have a new entry to the Mikulik Pantheon of Ridiculous Minor League Manager Protests.

The above is a link to video of Mississippi Braves manager Phillip Wellman, who was so angry about a call yesterday he did some combination of the following things:

  • Threw third base
  • Bent down to cover home plate in dirt with his hands
  • Crawled through the infield on his stomach
  • Threw the rosin bag like it was a grenade
That, my friends, is dedication to the art of protest. Somewhere, that Buddhist dude who lit himself on fire during the Vietnam War is smiling.
