On Deck is FanHouse's look at the day's most intriguing matchups
Arizona Diamondbacks (54-48) vs. Florida Marlins (48-53)-9:40PM Est.
I don't know about you, but I'm trying to figure out how in the hell Scott Olsen is being allowed to make a start for the Marlins tonight. It's one thing when you're getting into fights with your teammates and opponents, that's the heat of battle. When you're driving drunk and kicking cops before being treated to a taser? That's not exactly the behavior of a normal human being. Yet for some reason baseball hasn't taken any action against the guy. I mean, if you accidentally brush up against an umpire you're sitting a game, or if you argue a call a little to loudly you'll be sitting a game. Get drunk and get beat up by cops? Eh, not a big deal. Maybe if the Marlins were atop the NL East I could understand their reasoning, whether I agreed with it or not, but they have no excuse for this. I don't normally do this, but I hope the Diamondbacks beat Olsen as bad tonight as those police officers did. Wouldn't mind seeing a line drive off of his shin either.
Los Angeles Angels (57-42) vs. Oakland Athletics (48-52)-3:35PM Est.
The Angels are still holding on to first place in the AL West, but it's not really because of anything they've been doing. All they've been doing lately is losing, and they're lucky that the Mariners aren't exactly tearing it up at the moment. The Halos will turn to their ace John Lackey to right the ship this afternoon. Lackey is 12-6 with a 3.31 ERA this season, and it'll be up to him to keep the A's from their first series sweep in Anaheim since 1998. Joe Blanton gets the start for Oakland, who hasn't pitched very well lately. Blanton has lost his last three starts, posting a 6.52 ERA along the way. Even worse he's 1-6 with a 3.60 ERA against the Angels in his career.
San Francisco Giants (41-57) vs. Atlanta Braves (54-47)-10:15PM Est.
And your obligatory Barry Bonds game. Of course, there's a strong possibility that Bonds won't even play tonight after playing a 4-hour marathon last night. If Bonds sits, that should make Bud Selig incredibly happy. Should Bonds actually play, he'll be going against Chuck James. Barry hasn't had many at bats against James in his career, in fact, he's only had three. Two of them were walks, and the third one he was hit by a pitch, so Bonds is yet to actually hit a pitch from Chuck James. The Giants will counter with Noah Lowry and try to snap their three game losing streak.

I think the Marlins are letting Olsen start because things like this are one of the few ways they can get any sort of publicity/mentions on blogs like this.

Alcoholism cuts across society without regard to occupation, age, or income. One of the final steps in the slide to the bottom is what's called "grandiose and aggressive" behavior. It has no focus, and is appears to be random anger to the uninformed. Then, hopefully, the person survives their violent antics to get help.
Medical professionals would easily see his repeated use of alcohol and subsequent driving as the trademark of an alcoholic.
The only blessing is that Scott did not kill a child with his vehicle or end his own life under the influence. Its up to the Marlins to step-in and call a timeout to let this young man get his life back.

The perfect girl for Scott Olsen would be Lindsay Lohan. lol. They make Alyssa Milano and Carl Pavano and /or Alyssa Milano and Barry Zito seem boring. Heck I think they would make Chris and Anna Benson seem boring. Lohan should have got tasered. Fred Martin of the Dolphins got tasered for trying to bite and officer while wrestling him. If this keeps up they should have a new reality show, "When celebrities attack and get tasered." They can use John Cougar's Mellencamp's Authority Song as the theme song. You know, "I fight authority, authority always wins."

back off of scott olsen, he has issues in his life he is trying to work out. give him credit for actually wanting to put his life back together. if you don't know him, don't make these comments about him. you don't know what he is going through.
