I visited Miller Park last weekend and didn't see much of consequence in re: Barry Bonds. Sure, people booed, but Bonds didn't do much, and the dispositions of most Brewers fans I encountered on that fine hazy Saturday were far more reserved than I would have imagined. (Except, of course, when they caught wind of my Cubs hat. That was not popular.)
No, the most interesting thing about the surroundings in Milwaukee was the sheer largess and majesty of Miller Park. I haven't been to many of the newer MLB parks, but Miller Park is by far the coolest modern stadium I've seen. It's truly an architectural marvel, when you think about it.
But it wasn't always so, which brings us to the above video. That is a crane attempting to add a piece of Miller Park's trademark shell roofing during its construction in 1999 when the crane just sort of ... well, you'll see. Incredible video, to say the least.
Thanks for the nice words on Miller Park. I lived in Chi-Town for ten years and took many a ribbing for being a Wisconsin sports fan.
I don't mind your Cub cap; you're obviously from Chicago so you should back your teams, just as I do - I lived my first 35 years in Milwaukee and the last 17 years in Oshkosh.
Lastly, we appreciate your business. You give us more than we give you. People from Oshkosh are afraid to go to Milwaukee much less Chicago. You see, we are a racial desert up here. And.....Miller Park is majestical!
I tried once before to respond to your comment. I'll try again.
I'm glad you like Miller Park. I'm a Brewer fan and Wrigley Field sucks. I lived in Chicago for ten years and the only thing I have to say is 'nostalgia.' Same with Fenway Park.
My son is an avid Cub fan and still lives in Chicago but he goes to Cub games only when they play at Miller Park. The spaciousness and all the lights, plus the great concessions and Friday's are just a few of the amenities.
It's too bad, however, that the team can't play up to the park. Sure, they're in first place (barely) but baseball doesn't want them to win; too small of a market. Your Cubs will win the divisiion but only because there is graft and corruption in baseball as well as other sports and politics plus the corporate world.
Again, thanks for your praise of Miller Park. I might add that the deaths are tragic but we can't do anything to rectify that except appreciate the great park that these three men helped build.
Too bad that $42 million Jeff Suppan can't appreciate Miller Park and all the fans it attracts.

Tragic. Three men died that day. There is a statue commemorating them outside of the home plate entrance.
