OK, so BALCO chemist Patrick Arnold appeared on the HBO show Costas Now and said he thought Barry Bonds and Gary Sheffield took performance-enhancers. Barry did not take to that accusation kindly, calling Bob Costas a midget who didn't know jack about baseball. In an awesome turn of events, Bob Costas responded to Barry's insults. And now finally, as directed by Barry M. Bloom, we have come to find that Barry Bonds has clarified his opinion of Costas on his site:Yesterday, I was asked about my thoughts about Bob Costas. My reaction stemmed from my feelings about Costas' statements during a broadcast. The comment I made about him was off-the-cuff and my problem with Costas is not with his height, but with his irresponsible journalism. If my choice of words offended anyone, that was not my intent. I have consistently said that reporters talk about "third party" conversations without having specific first-hand knowledge of what they are reporting. It is irresponsible and many get away with it day after day. Costas stated that what I am doing on the field is "inauthentic" and he made some really strong accusations about me. To quote him, "he would have been a first ballot Hall of Famer even before he started juicing. And I'm not in the category of those who say suspected juicer, I live on this planet I've seen what I've seen, I know what I know."Doesn't sound at all like a member of Bonds' legal/p.r. team wrote that, does it?! Gotta love that. Now, if Bonds' journal entry read like this, then I might change my opinion. Either way, as PostmanR said, this rules. Ball's in your court, Costas.I take great offense to those statements, especially coming from someone who is supposed to have journalistic integrity and not make blanket reckless accusations.

So what Costas interviewed a chemist. Have you guys ever tried to hit a 90 mph fastball? Look at this, my 6 year old kid can kick my butt on tv video games, with her hand- eye coordination should i think she is on roids. No,her reaction time is great and it is just a norm for some. Cant Bonds despite his growth be the norm for him? It is true Costas should have an opinion, but like most on a bar stool it doesn't go on national airwaves. Discretion should be used.

They continue to do stories on Bonds but there is never any new information so at some point it is personal. They don't do this to Clemens or Giambi and they were both linked to it. Clemens has been doing incredible things at an advanced age. But he gets a free pass.

Bob Costas is a jouranlist who wouldn't know Wonder Woman if she put her magic lasso on Bob Costas and him tell the truth. Barry Bonds is just another media person Bob picks on to get the humanoids to watch his sports shows.

Why don't shorty costas make comments about roger "the dodger" clemens using roids? Oh, it's because clemens is white. Clemens game had when down so bad the yanks sent him to the minor league. Clemens only help his pocketbook coming to pitch for the yanks. His pitching is enhanced with his use of roids. Wake up Bud! You help create these monsters on the roids now you do not want to attend any of the games that Barry will break the home run record in?! Please!! You whimp ass whiteboy! You can not have both ways. Boycott roger clemens games!

I guess the HR record is more important than the truth behind it. Giants fans like to pretend that "everybody cheats in sports", so it's OK for Barry Bonds to have broken this record by cheating too. Look at Bonds career records for God's sake. When Barry saw McGuire and Sosa getting the massive media attention in the late 90's, Barry got jealous and got 'roids. From age 35 to 40 Barry suddenly got tremendous power and hit 247 homer runs during that five year period alone! That was 32% of his current total of 757 homers! He only hit 189 homer runs the previous 5 years, when he was in his prime. The record may be broken, and questions or not I congratulate Barry for his endurance and creativity, but not for his ethics. Bonds can call Costas every name in the book, but Bob is telling it as it is Giants fans. Your hero is tainted despite having used the 'clear'!

I used to be a huge fan of Bob Costas. He used to play his role as the supporting cast to the celebrity athlete so well. He's a great journalist who's lost his way. His opinions used to come from obvious research and preparation, but when you hear him now, would think he played nine innings or 4 quarters. I cant help but laugh at him on Inside the NFL when he picks the winners for the week. Like the picks really matter. Get out of the spot light, you dont belong there.
