On Deck is FanHouse's look at the day's most intriguing matchups
San Francisco Giants (43-57) vs. Florida Marlins (48-55)-ESPN 10:15PM Est.
Seriously, Barry, this is getting old. Yes, I'm enjoying all the banter between you and Bob Costas as much as everybody else, but I'm getting tired of waiting. I'm an impatient man, Barry. I'm getting tired of waiting for you to hit a couple more home runs. I mean, you've hit 753 of them in your career, why the hell is it so hard to hit three more? Do you just like all the attention? Are you afraid that once you break the record nobody will care about you anymore? What is it, man!? You're going to be facing some guy named Rick Vanden Hurk today, and I think Vanden Hurk is Dutch for "batting practice fastball." If you can't hit at least two home runs off of this guy tonight, you should probably just retire now and forget the record. You don't want to disappoint Bob Dupuy do you? He's such a sweet man!
St. Louis Cardinals (46-52) vs. Milwaukee Brewers (56-46)-8:10PM Est.
This is the last stand for the defending champions. Before they started this current seven game homestand against the Cubs and Brewers, I'm sure Walt Jocketty felt that these seven games would determine what he would do come Tuesday. Well, so far the Cardinals have lost two of three to the Cubs and start a four game series with the Brewers tonight. If they don't win at least three of the four, I think it's safe to say the Cardinals are finished in 2007. The good news is that the Brewers aren't playing that well right now. Seriously, first place teams should not be losing three of four to the team with the worst record in baseball, and that's what just happened to Milwaukee in Cincinnati. They've lost five of their last seven games and have seen their lead over the Cubs shrink to 2 games.
Cleveland Indians (59-43) vs. Minnesota Twins (51-50)-7:05PM Est.
Much like the Cardinals, the Twins are about to make their last stand. The Twins have a better record than the Cardinals, but the task in front of them appears significantly more difficult to travel. If the Twins can't win this series against the Indians, the trades will begin in Minnesota. Everybody from Torii Hunter, Luis Castillo, and even Joe Nathan could be playing their last games as a Minnesota Twin if they don't win these games. The Indians meanwhile just made a minor pick up with Kenny Lofton, and are still right behind the Tigers in the AL Central race. Paul Byrd gets the start for the Tribe, and he'll be going against the one they call Boof.

I think we all want to move on from this home run chase. We've heard it all year, all last year and the year before. It's getting a little much for me. I hope Arod steals a little of his thunder with his pursuit of 500.

I can't stand Barry Bonds. He is an arrogant bastard who wanted to beat Hank Arron with the most home runs. In my opinion, Barry Bonds doesn't deserve to ever be where he is at because Hank Arron hit all of those home runs without steriods, Bonds, on the other hand, looks as if he is still on steroids. Besides, he can't even stay in the game long enough to hit anything. He can't run without having a pitch runner run for him because he is a lazy no good a**hole. Barry Bonds, go to hell with your stupid home runs.

Shame on MLB. Instead of parading a loser around the ball parks as the next home run king, they should be sitting him down. How embarassing for the SF fans. They have to pin their hopes on a washed up, steroid ridden biggot. If I was the manager I would sit his ass on the bench the rest of the season. I would not let him pass the great Hank Aaron. Big mouth small brain...

I am one who is a believer of Bonds when he says he never took steroids. Why is it that America needs a scapegoat to vent their poor self esteem on(sports in particular). His meanest enemies are those who never played the game or attended a game he played in.They just love to bash anyone who is a success.

Barry, Enough is enough! Get off the ego trip. You are the arrogant piece of crap that has created your own problems. Costa's is no midget man. He is a bigger man than you will ever be. There are and will be bigger and better hitters than you in the future.
Baseball was once a pleasure to watch when you were in your prime and normal minded. Buddy, you have lost it - get off the field! It is time for you to hang it up. You need a shrink! You do not impress anyone anymore with your big man crap!!!

Hi all, Barry is good with or with out steroids.Just let him play his gamebecause he's not the only one anyway. Look a Jason Giambi, he used steroids and still can't hit as good as Barry.FFurther more there are others who took steroids and still can't perform well either, so stop bashing bonds, please. He's just talented.

Greetings once again people. Too all those Barry haters,I,m quoting from Stephen Smith."Steroids was not such a big issue until Barry's home run record was close to Baby Ruth's and exceeded the rest." Come on people, let it go. It is obvious that barry is great when you compare him to the other steroid users. They can't even do what Barry is doing. Further more, why didn't the league start mandatory testing while others were using steroids long before Bonds? I respect Hank, Ruth, reggie and many others but how do we know if hank or any one of the others never used steroids? Were they ever tested? The league knew about the steroids usage a very long time ago and never did a damn thing about it till recent. So all you A-Holes need to relax and enjoy the game. I'm out.

From Jay Marriotti this morning. Coincidence? hmmmmmmm.....
His first-inning blast came off Florida rookie Rick Vanden Hurk, which is Dutch for batting-practice pitcher. After that, the Marlins pitched around him, drawing loud boos.
