Lest you worry that small children the world over were being suckered into steroid use at the sight of Barry Bonds's notable accomplishments, fear not: the children hate Bonds too! These ballplayers may be only 8 to 10 years young, but they're already old enough to pass moral judgment on Bonds, the home-run-clobbering San Francisco Giant whose assault on one of baseball's most sacred records has been tainted by suspicions of illegal performance-enhancing drug use."Hank Aaron should get to keep the record, not Bonds," the 8-year-old pitcher argues. "Bonds cheated."
"The home run record is huge but not when you get it by cheating," says Dakota Potter, 9, of Irvine, who plays third base for his Little League team. "I don't know anyone who likes Bonds. He's scary, and he used steroids."
See, folks? Even the pure of heart -- the small, feeble children of Southern California -- dislike Bonds and his impending record just as much as you do. Doesn't that make you feel better? In the sense that we can rest assured our children aren't all being corrupted into rampant steroid use, at least not until they're 13 or 14 ... yes, I feel much better now.

[I know you're mosting kidding, E but...]
Thank you, standfordfan. It's called anecdotal evidence and the reporter should be roundly bitch-slapped for trying to pass it off as something more.
I could walk outside and get a handful of SoCal eight-year-olds to agree that Cal Ripken, Jr. is a Nazi-loving, panty-wearing serial killer.
Case in point: A Sun-Times reporter happened upon my grandfather taking a walk and asked if he would do an interview. He agreed and ended up prominently featured in the reporter's story about my Chicago neighborhood. Lengthy and complex quotes were attributed to him. Only problem was, my grandfather spoke about fifty words of English. The reporter would make a statement, then ask my grandfather if he agreed, he would say, "Yes" (not knowing what the hell she was talking about), and she proceeded to use her words as his. It's what(bad)reporters do.
This guy wanted to write an "I Hate Barry Bonds" story and needed a hook to do it. He found one. That it's completely lacking in factual content apparently didn't matter to him or his editors. And then they wring their hands about the loss of values in our country...

Why is it so wrong for a sports figure to not be legitimate. The so-called leaders (Bush/Cheney) of the free world are not legimate and we, as a nation, have done NOTHING to stop them! Put Bonds on trial for steroid use & take his (inevitable) home run king title. Put Bush/Cheney on trial for war crimes/Genocide & take their titles & punish them like we have others. See, as a nation, we need to FOCUS on the real problems & stop sweatin the small stuff. Unfortunately, steroid use/abuse is as common in sports as use/abuse of power is in this bush dictatorship!

The Blogster was absolutely right on the mark, those kids know the deal. Bonds is a fraud - he's a punkin headed loser who cheated, isn't man enough to admit it - and his "record" doesn't mean a damned thing. Everytime the rest of you Bonds loving morons post all the crap about how great he is - you are insulting the real record holder, Hammerin Hank Aaron. A man who has done more and continues to do more for Baseball and the Black Athletes in America than a thousand "Bonds" out there. I hope Bonds enjoys his records in prison after he gets nailed for Tax Evasion and Perjury. The guy is scum - pure scum - and the baseball playing kids in this country know it just as a vast majority of adults do.

Chuck, in my case anyway, you mistake distaste at the questionable approach taken by the OC reporter for support of Barry Bonds.
And PhilG, sorry, but no lack of respect for the AOL bloggers here. I LUV me some PostmanE!

I think if there is even a REMOTE CHANCE that steroids could improve his posts, then PostmanE should be swallowing handfuls of pills daily. Just looking at his dorky, oversized, fat head I can tell he NEVER played sports. All he can do is ATTEMPT to be compelling by typing BS and trying to cause controversy. Dude, take an injection!!

Dave, yes, I take steroids every day. It really improves my hand-eye-keyboard coordination. How do you think my head got so oversized and dorky?
