Minor League Spotlight is the MLB FanHouse's look into baseball's minor leagues. But you probably figured that out already.Just another reason to love minor league promotions, as Thursday featured a good one courtesy of the Savannah Sand Gnats:
Thursday, Aug. 2 will be Lindsay Lohan Drunk Driving Awareness Night at Grayson Stadium as the Sand Gnats will take on the Greensboro Grasshoppers at 7:05 p.m. in the finale of a four-game series. The game is sponsored by Grainger Honda.Really, what's better than promoting safe driving, and totally skewering a hollywood celebrity in the process? Outstanding! No immediate word on when the Sand Gnats will hold "Britney Spears Put Your Baby in a Car Seat Awareness Night".
It will be a Thirsty Thursday with half-priced beer and Coke and $1 Papa John's Pizza slices presented by Connect Savannah, Rock 106.1 and Papa John's Pizza. However, the Sand Gnats encourage all fans in attendance to learn from the redheaded actress' mistakes and plan for safe transportation home from the game.
Hook Towing will have a wrecked car from a drunk driving accident on display on the plaza in front of the main gate. Savannah Highway Enforcement of Aggressive Traffic (HEAT) will also be at the game with its blood alcohol testing van.

You know, you could at least use a picture of Pretty Lindsay instead of Drunk-with-Coke-in-Pockets Lindsay. Is that so much to ask?

she is always drunk with coke in her pockets!!!So was I at her age. Cut the girl a break though, we learn from our mistakes. She is 21, with way more money then sense. I do not promote nor agree with dui, but I do think most people should learn something from Bob Marley and judge not before they judge themselves!!!!!!

Don't get all sappy and try to give her excuses....there are plenty of adults over the age of 21 that don't drive drunk and high - there are no excuses. My brother was killed by a drunk driver, and I am tired of people trying to justify her actions!!!

I agree. I'm 24 and have managed not to drive drunk once. In fact, whenever I plan on getting absolutely smashed with friends, we lock the keys away until morning. If I inadvertantly drink more than I planned, I find other transportation. I've taken a cab from a bar a few times. Hunting down my car the next day wasn't fun, but it was responsible.
Age is not an excuse. There are a lot of people younger than her that aren't nearly as stupid. I don't know if you're aware, but she told a writer in an interview that she would never be dumb enough to drive drunk. This was 36 HOURS before her first DUI arrest. This proves that she is more than aware of how stupid her actions were, but chose to go through with it anyway.

I hope that the next time "poor" Lindsay finds herself wearing someone elses pants with drugs in the pocket, there's the phone number of a car service or cab in there too.

Truth About "Drunk Driving" said...
Selling alcohol to drivers is a muli-billion dollar industry. My cousin was killed by a drunk driver and I blame the State for licensing the sale of alchohol to drivers all the time. You can't expect someone who has drunk alcohol to have good judgement no matter what the MADD fanatics think.

Oh, that's real smart. lower your prices on beer, so people drink twice as much! why don't they jack up the prices so people won't want to spend their money on the already over priced beer anyway.

To "Truth about drunk driving" -
I have been drunk many, many times and have NEVER gotten into a car intoxicated. Just because your judgement is impaired does NOT mean you are a brainless zombie.
The best judgement should be excersized BEFORE you drink. She should've had someone else driving her around. You can't tell me she doesn't have any friends, or the money to hire a driver. All of this could've been prevented if she'd planned before partying.

Yeah, she doesn't have any sense because she has so much money and she is going crazy with it. Maybe her mom didn't put her money in savings until she was old enough and with her having access to all the money, she wants to do whatever she wants because life is too short. She is really cute but she is not so cute anymore all of a sudden. She is getting into too much trouble.

I find the "poor Lindsay" comments amusing. Maybe she has some talent, but being drunk and stupid isn't the way to show it..unless she considers being an alcoholic a talent of hers also. There's plenty of actresses her age, including quite famous ones who were also child stars that don't hop in and out of rehab, don't crash cars into trees, don't go on drinking binges a few days after they leave rehab wearing alcohol monitoring anklets. She's an adult. She can choose...party animal and joke of the tabloids, or clean up and slowly repair her reputation.
As for the use of this photo..it's the most honest one out there.
Finally, as for cutting her a break, I'll say this...if she rams into someone else's car and injures them, should we cut her a break? She's already smashed into trees, amazed she hasn't caused a larger accident. Last little drunken joyride of hers she had passengers, and I think it wasn't even her car. What if she had injured or killed those passengers, would you then say cut her some slack?

I grew up in a time that if you got stopped you had a good chance of just being followed home and got a lecture. There was no public awareness at all. I wrecked a couple cars and drove drunk way too many times. I would never do that again. The drinking age in my state was 18 for beer and wine. I went from school room to bar room. I am glad they changed the age back to 21. The alcohol death rates in people my age at the time went skyrocketing. Anyone that drinks and drives today deserves jailtime. You know it isn't allowed and you know that the police know how to spot drunken drivers. Also there are cell phones today and someone else can easily report you. No one has an excuse today. There are too many people willing to give you a ride. No one that got a DUI ever said "I think I'll go get a DUI" They all said "They were fine to drive" and that's a big mistake!

My old car, a beautiful 2000 Rav 4, was utterly destroyed when a drunk driver (my age, 23, I found) slammed into my car from behind, and drove off without even seeing if me or my girlfriend were okay. He sent us spinning.
I think anybody caught drinking and driving should have their license taken away for good. Harsh? Not at all. Not when you can kill somebody when you're being an idiot. Morons do drugs.

Maybe if we had stiffer DUI laws like Virginia, there wouldn't be as many drunk drivers. First offense for DUI is $2500.00 plus $500.00 court costs.
Even somebody with Lindsey's money couldn't pay too many of those.
