The Dugout: Jim Thome Has a Heckuva Day

The Dugout is a feature at Fanhouse that brings the lives of Major League Baseball players directly to you...sort of. The official chatroom of the MLB keeps you up to date with all the recent happenings of your favorite players both on the field and off.

When Jim Thome hit his 500th tater for a walkoff yesterday my first emotion was absolute elation. He's easily one of the most admirable human beings ever to grace the spotlight and to see him reach such a milestone in as much grace as he's displayed his entire career put a smile on my face for the rest of the day. Well, at least until the Red Sox lost. Then I saw the Patriots score again and let out a mighty Thome chortle.

It's going to be a shame when the Fanhouse commenting masses start making angry, practically unreadable posts because the jokes are going over their heads. But whatever. If anyone deserves to be paid for their work, it would be you fellas.

I was hoping that this HR would occur soon enough that it could be worked into the epic WordUpThome.com conclusion, but I like that you got the chance to start out here with Jim, too.

Looking forward to reading you guys over on this side of the internet. Make them get you a Dugout tag, though. Threaten to do only Rangers Dugouts until then, or something.
