"Take a guess who's sitting in front of me at the Cubs game right now?"
"Someone sweet I'm guessing."
"Mark Cuban."
"Make sure to get a picture."
And thus it went from there. My friend ended up getting what he called a "great picture."
So follow along after the jump for yet another tale of Cuban being one altogether amicable guy. It's not all that mind-blowing, but hey, it's not everyday you run into a billionaire NBA owner sitting in the bleachers at Wrigley Field, no?
We got into the bleachers about 45 minutes before game time and Cuban sat down maybe 10 minutes later. He was being cool with everyone, signing autographs and taking pictures. He seemed into the game. A couple chants broke out, "Cuban! Cuban!" The better one was "Buy the Cubs! Buy the Cubs!" to which he pumped his fist at one point.
There was a guy from itsgonnahappen.com sitting about five rows in front of him with a big "its gonna happen" sign. At one point, he got up to go to the bathroom and Cuban asked to hold his sign while he was gone, he held it up and everyone went nuts.
I only glanced at him after DeRosa's game winner but he was jumping up and down and cheering like everyone else. Finally we waiting a good ten minutes before we filed out and he was still there signing autographs and taking pictures again. I thought for sure he was going to leave when they were down three in the bottom of the ninth but he stuck around.

Say what you want about Mark Cuban the owner, but it's rather clear, from this account and an experience of my own, that he's a blast to be around. A man of the people, indeed.

As a life long die hard (currently dying hard) white sox fan, the cubs never scare me no matter how many times they flirt with winning.
Mark Cuban scares me. He made the Dallas Mavericks a POWERHOUSE. Even though right now they are the cubs and find way to lose in the playoffs, they still went to the finals.
He has never-ending pockets and will do whatever it takes to win. If he owned the cubs, he would be in the dugout but they would be a contender.
NO TO CUBAN!!!

Mavericks are a powerhouse? They win a lot and they draw people but they need to win The Big One. Then we can call them a powerhouse.

Keep the arrogant, self-centered, ego maniac in Chicago for the winter and you would be doing Dallas a favor. Then again the local sports page would have to find someplace else to stick their "nose..." although Jerry is back on track.
Powerhouse and Mav's don't fit. Great Coach, some good players but lacking that one "thug" to make it to the ring ceremony. When Cuban and Dirk (creature feature face and mouth piece swagger) stay of the JUMBO TV's at the Center and local game coverage and assume their proper roles then perhaps things will change. Cuban is a modern day Barnum/Bailey with a little "snake oil" sales ability with pockets that would eliminate most small states debt....and run the other circus out of business.
POWERHOUSE....please! Celtic's, Laker's and BULL's....that is POWERHOUSE! Phoenix and Cleveland will win before the Mav's do.
To the great fans of Chicago...nothing "fair weather about you." Just be careful what you ask for.

The Phoenix Suns under Steve Nash, according to The Fanhouse, are a powerhouse (see Steve Nash as cornerstone article).
The Mavericks have been better than the Suns, consistently, for a longer period of time (see the NBA record books).
Therefore, the Mavericks ARE a powerhouse.

How perfect. King Tool sits among his subjects. It's great to have visual evidence of why the Cubs are the easiest team to hate of all time. GO BREWERS!

Mark Cuban is an idiot. I live in Dallas, and I after the Mavs were eliminated from the playoffs two years ago, a couple of days later he was with several of them in a bar (Primo's), drunk as heck. He ordered a tray of shots and a pitcher of water. When the waitress came, he took the pitcher of water off the tray and dumped the whole thing over his own head. A minute later, he was throwing, yes throwing, the shot glasses around the bar. He was trying to be fun, but I was really hoping to get hit by one (no luck).
His antics at Mavs games show what a jack@ss he is. (or did his short-lived reality show "The Benefactor" do that?). This guy is just an idiot who happened upon a good idea (streaming Indiana basketball games online) and who was made an offer by Yahoo at the perfect time.

Hey, John check your facts. "This guy is just an idiot who happened upon a good idea (streaming Indiana basketball games online)" doesnt make sense because he was already a self-made millionaire before broadcast.com. That just made him a billionaire.

Mark Cuban is the best thing to ever happen to Dallas. How many Billionaires do you know that don't expect star treatment or special privilage everywhere they go. I know quite a few, they are all nice but, the man does not think he is better than everyone else. Dallas is damn lucky to have him. I just hope that if the Cubs deal comes through for him, he WILL NOT leave Dallas.
