What you see here is an old short video summing up the collapse of the 1964 Phillies, a team that blew a six and a half game lead with 12 to play. The current Phillies are trying to erase a seven game lead with 17 games to play, thus putting their own positive spin on history.
The video ends with the demolition of Connie Mack Stadium, making room for a "palatial new home", which you knew as Veterans Stadium. That palace is now also rubble ... and that's what the Phillies are currently trying to turn the Mets season into.
I can't believe no comments have surfaced regarding this, the biggest baseball meltdown in our citys history. I will never forget listening {on the radio} to the last dozen games. It seemed Mauch only used his two top pitchers down the final stretch. I'm an old man now, some of the facts may be slightly different in my recollection.

Go Phillies. Get into the playoffs and like the Colts exercise the demons of the past.
