I was wrong: I suggested that Mike Winterssuspension would vindicateMilton Bradley, but Bradley completely dismissed that idea. Considering he's still laid up with a bum knee no matter what punishment Winters receives, I guess that's understandable.
Is it me, or was Chris Rose trying to put words in Bradley's mouth regarding a lawsuit? Bradley ignored the suggestion, but Rose seemed to twist that into being a "wait and see" response. And really, who could he sue? Winters may have instigated the whole incident by talking like a sailor, but I can't possibly see how he'd be culpable for the torn ACL. Could Bradley sue Bud Black or the Padres? I guess it's possible, but that might do more harm than good in terms of his already-stained reputation in front offices around the majors.
I'm not sure I believe that he'll be ready by spring training, but there's a decent chance that he could at least be ready by Opening Day. The standard recovery time for this type of injury is 6-8 months, and he has six months almost to the day before Opening Day. If he can shave a week or two off his rehabilitation, it's definitely possible. He sounds awfully determined and earning a contract can be a great motivator, so don't rule anything out.
And just think: If turd-brain Milton could ever shut his mouth or learn to control his emotions, this wouldn't have happened. If I was Milton, I would sue Milton for general stupidity. I'm sure he opened his mouth to set the ump off, so Milton got what he deserved. It's justice. What an idiot!
Bradley is an idiot and he should have been tossed even before the ump supposedly said something. Even the Pad's local TV announcers were wondering out loud - what's going on down at first base as with every lead Bradley took - he was jawing back over his shoulder, turning his head at least three times per leadoff.
Additionally, 1st base coach, Bobby Meachum, who immediately played the race card, was covering up for his failure to tell Bradley - shut up and keep your head in the game - as we are down 6 - 1 and need your run, and we are about to be swept by the Rockies who are hot on our trail. (The Rockies did sweep the Madres, and I don't think this weak hitting team will make the playoffs. It's really owner John Moores fault as he will not spend the money to get a couple more hitters and he has made over a BILLION on the real estate he picked up around the new Petco ballpark, and the club itself is worth $300 million more than when he bought it).
Brother Bob Watson at the NL offices apparently listened first to Bobby M's race card tactic, while Bobby was CYA'ing about his not saying anything to Bradley while he was coaching at first, but like everyone else, he is too afraid Bradley will explode at the smallest prompt.
Get rid of poison (but yes, talented) Bradley and sent Bobby M. back to base coaching school.
You got what you deserve, and on national TV. Nice representation of your team and yourself. Coach, fire your out of control player. Bradley, start practicing, "would you like fries with that order?"
Maybe Milton Bradley will learn from this injury to cut out the monkey business of losing his temper and hurting himself and his teammates. About John Moore not getting the best players for the Padres but getting a new stadium I feel your pain.
Rose is looking for a fat fee. The ump has no liability for the injury and he knows it. But Board Game if you want to piss away a few bucks I would be glad to handle this for you. Or you could just grow up. A problem player, with a bad knee, who is injured all the time anyway doesn't really sound like a good investment. Hope you enjoy McD's, after you get an education. Go Padres.
