One of Dusty Baker's many failings in Chicago -- besides pitching Kerry Wood and Mark Prior into oblivion and playing Neifi Perez every day, et al.-- was his passive role in a feud between then-announcers Steve Stone and Chip Caray and various players on the team. Players thought they were being criticized too harshly, and Caray and Stone didn't like that, and everyone got all angry and huffy. And then Moises Alou urinated on his hands. The point of all this urine talk: Reds announcer Marty Brennaman spoke openly against Baker at the time, and will now have to work with him every day. That should be fun:
In addition to his entertaining and informative style, Brennaman isn't afraid to stand up to anyone who challenges him or his comments. Brennaman stood up to center fielder Ken Griffey Jr. after Brennaman criticized him.And Brennaman questioned Baker's control of the Cubs' clubhouse toward the end of the 2004 season when players thought then-announcers Chip Caray and Steve Stone should have been more supportive.
"Dusty Baker singularly could have stopped that stuff right from the beginning," Brennaman said at the time. "And I just think it escalated into something that was not very pretty."
While I'm not sure I agree with the "informative and entertaining part," it should be interesting how Dusty handles his new friends in Cincinnati. As if the court of public opinion weren't enough, Dusty's got to wag both the tail and the dog if he plans on being as bad in Cincy as he was in Chicago.

Dusty Baker is going to know the saying "Keep your friends close and your rivals even closer."

Who's Mike Brenneman?
Cincinnati has Marty Brenneman and his son Thom as anouncers for the Reds, but no Mike.
Thom use to run around Dusty's former home of Chicago, calling games, as a side note.
No offense PostmanE, but take a second and check your facts before posting. It will do wonders for your credibility.

Mike Brenamann ??? Could someone PLEASE become a responsible journalist and even try to get the names right?? It will be very interesting in Cincy this year as the Reds continue to struggle and Marty and Thom will be right in Dustys face if things go from bad to worse.

I think it's time to stop blaming the coaches for the team's awful playing. The players know what to do when they're out there on the ball field. The coaches aren't the one's out there throwing and hitting the ball. The problem is with the players. They're too worried about that all-mighty dollar and how many they're going to get paid. Any coach can tell the players what to do, it's a matter of the players doing it. Bringing in Dusty isn't going to do anything but give the team another excuse as to why they're so bad. The coaches are doing their job. It's time the players did their's.

Dusty Baker is not the type of manager that cincinatti needs. They need someone who will not cow cow to the owners and the high priced players. Someone who will bench a superstar to make a point to all who play for him that there will be no less than 110% effort.

As a PROFESSIONAL journalist, it's refreshing to see regular lay persons or fans pointing out how bad most of the writers are on AOL and elsewhere. Most don't know how to spell or put together a correct sentence, don't check their facts, and make mundane arguments based on ridiculous reasoning. But, the readers are catching and exposing media "wannabes" like this guy. Inexcusable to allow a posting like this with mistakes like Cincinatti; Cinci (it's Cincy as one person correctly wrote); Mike Brennaman instead of Marty; incorrect punctuation and sentence structure; as well as, extremely poor use of the English language in many other ways. Good work, readers.

Hello friends, and thank you for reading.
The couple errors that were in the post (not sure where I got Mike, and "Cincinatti" was a typo) have been fixed, including the use of Cinci instead of Cincy even though that really isn't worth arguing about.

Ummm..PostmanE?
It's...Cincinnati..not Cincinati..okay?
You would think a person who posted about correcting his mistakes would indeed correct them.
And stating that it isn't worth arguing about when you incorrectly spell it Cinci instead of the proper Cincy only further erodes your credibility as an intelligent writer who does his research and double checks his work
Now, spell it with me...
