It's hard to believe, but for anyone who's a new fan to the game, the Red Sox are the defining team in baseball. There is no pain, no suffering, no choking in the 2000s. The Red Sox have cast all shades of the curse aside, and are building a legacy as the powerhouse team of the decade. They have a good ownership group, smart front office, and a combination of excellent young and veteran talent on the field. In short, they have become a model franchise.
Given their nice core of players that will be back the next few seasons, I envision the Red Sox as a 90+ win, playoff team in each of the next few seasons. Should they return to the playoffs in both 2008 and 2009, the Red Sox will only further cement the honor I've already bestowed upon them. If they can manage another World Series run, I wouldn't know what to think. Dare I say dynasty? Believe it Yankee fans, believe it.

They should be! They certainly spent enough money to buy the Championship. Spend this many buckaroos and you should win something!

Let us not get carried away by the second World seried that Red sox have just won. They are good, but certainly not the team of the decade. I firmly believe Yankees will win the world series next year and clain the title of the team of the decade. Also well deserved congratulations to The Red Sox for winning their second world series in a dominentand convincingway

The Red Sox are obviously a great team, but not a dynasty. Two Series does not a dynasty make. Plus--they hardly "crushed" the Indians, and will have to work even harder to beat them next year.

Would someone please inform Joe Buck that the Red Sox have won the world series and that he can stop talking incessantly about how great the Rocky's are?
Thank you.

Last time I checked, it was the Yankees with the largest payroll in professional baseball.
So you see, money alone will not buy a world series...in helps certainly, but you also need heart, faith, talent, good management and a bit of luck.
It sounds like the Yankee fans are sore losers and they were not even in the hunt...

Red Sox fans are the most obnoxious fans in all of baseball. They won 2 world series since 1918 and they act like they won the 26. They have no class.
Now that Pay-Rod will be leaving the Yankees things
will be different.Hope he goes to the Red Sox and jinxes them like he did the Yanks.
He fits the mold of the Red Sox - egomaniacs and no class. Next he will be sporting a goatee like all of them.

Joe...your kidding me right?? Classless..PLEASEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE
Obnoxious. Yankee fans wrote the book. They can hand it out but they sure can't take it!
Egomaniacs...OMG, again the Spankees wrote the book. I respect what the Yankees were and dispise who they are!
I think it's quite humerous when Yankee fans have to lower themselves to talk about Manny's hair or goatees. What a desperate individual you are Joe. It's going to be a LONG winter! You still have the Jets, Bills and Giants HAAAAAAAAAAAA!
See you in April.
Face it......their done for a long time.
I predict Posada and Rivera will sign with the Red Sox. Petit would fit in well with the Sox as well
(TEAM FIRST, STATS LATER)
Joe, seek help NOW!

Two (2!) championships in four years. And in between they didn't even WIN a playoff game.
This is a dynasty? This is "Team of the decade?"
You are a disgrace and know nothing about baseball.
Stick to your knitting...How's that Marie Osmond after her frightful fall?

It's a nice thought, but as a Red Sox fan, even I would say a second ring only gets them partway to Team of the Decade. They definitely are the leading contender, but we'll see what they do in the next few years.
As for the sour grapes from some of the other comments: Yes the Sox spent a lot of money this year, but they also got huge contributions from players developed in their own system - Pedroia, Ellsbury, Lester, Papelbon...It's part of what makes them a fun team to root for.

How much money did Ellsbury, Pedroia, and Keilty cost? Minimum. The Yankees cast MVP Mike Lowell aside as a rookie. How's that working out for you? These sour grapes type comments really make you seem childish and petty. Your team is in trouble. As for "classless" I would think that term is exactly what you could apply to the comments regarding Joe Torre from the Steinbrenners. Joe Torre was the best thing to ever happen to the Yankees, things aren't going to be so rosey now that you've thrown him to the curb. If it was possible to buy a World Series championship, the Yankees would have won it in the last eight years. They haven't. It's not money, it's teamwork, cautious managing and young talent that has been grown from draft picks. It's working people. you other teams might want to try it. It's a recipe for success. Now, stop your whining and pathetic excuses for your own teams failures and act like adults. The Red Sox are World Champions again, no matter what you say, nothing will change that. Get over yourselves!

The red sox beat up on no name teams, Devil rays, Kansas City,Mariners and the like .Rockies. Then the Rockies a team with no past ,no history and no tradition, it was all fixed, a set up from the start When faced with real competition, like the Yankees they buckled.
