Now that the season is over, and the Hot Stove League has begun, that means it's awards season in baseball. Today baseball got the party started by naming the Gold Glove winners in both the American and National Leagues. Some of the names on the list won't surprise you, but there are more than a few new faces on this year's list.
American League
C - Ivan Rodriguez
1B - Kevin Youkilis
2B - Placido Polanco
3B - Adrian Beltre
SS - Orlando Cabrera
OF - Grady Sizemore
OF - Torii Hunter
OF - Ichiro Suzuki
P - Johan Santana
National League
C - Russell Martin
1B - Derrek Lee
2B - Orlando Hudson
3B - David Wright
SS - Jimmy Rollins
OF - Carlos Beltran
OF - Andruw Jones
OF - Jeff Francouer
OF - Aaron Rowand
P - Greg Maddux
Apparently in the National League they've instituted a rule that allows for four outfielders on the field at one time. Maybe it's an attempt to make up for the lack of a designated hitter.
As with all lists like these though, there are plenty of arguments for others to be included. I encourage you all to debate it vigorously in the comments section.

Apparently whoever the last two outfielders were tied, which is what left four in the NL.

Why not have a gold glove for the D.H.? they are sometimes the best hitters or best players, with injury's keeping them out the line-up. Bd knee's have stopped many great players but they still can change games with their bats! Edgar, was the greatest DH in history, in my book & brought fans to games & was good citizen. Johnny

Coco Crisp, sure he bats like a girl, but if he's not a Gold Glover, I don't know who is.

The best fielding team in baseball history doesn't have a Gold Glove. Tulo should be there.

hmm.... Orlando Hudson?
Total chances: Phillips 782, Hudson 655
Errors: Phillips 8, Hudson 10
Field %: Phillips .990, Hudson .985
Zone Rating: Phillips 8.10, Hudson 8.14
Range Factor: 5.08, Phillips 4.91
Double Plays: Phillips 113, Hudson 96
I thought they gave this award to the BEST fielder per position. How did Hudson get this over Phillips?

Tulo had over 100 more total chances, over 50 more assists, and a higher fielding percentage (in less games)than rollins. what a joke!! Helton had 5 less errors on 300 more chances than Lee!!!! what are those idiot voters looking at?!!!!

David Wright with a woeful .954 fielding percentage, 21 errors, ranked 9th in the N.L. How in the hell does he win a gold glove?

Jimmy rollins at short? Come on! He's a great hitter but if nayone watches baseball Omar Visquel is still the best glove at short. Not even close!

DH's don't get a gold glove because it's an award for fielding, and obviously DH's don't field. There is a silver slugger award for hitters.

Andruw freakin' Jones?!?! What a farce. There's no better example of how meaningless these decade-long streaks of winning gold gloves than this. Once you've won two or three in a row, you're a near lock to win the next 5 on reputation alone.

You You You You ...... Imagine a transplant from 3rd base and NO errors during regular season! He was asked to fill a void and he said "Sure, I'll try it, I'll play anywhere! Best in the American League!

Who figures the Gold Glove awards? I thought it had something to do with performance, not reputation. Leaving off both Tulo and Helton makes this a joke.
