I somehow missed the fact that the transcript of
Brian McNamee's closed-door meeting with Congress last week was available to the public. But it is, all
235 pages of it in beautiful PDF format. And as 'Duk from
Yahoo's new Big League Stew points out, there's some good reading in there.
Roger Clemens claims that he didn't appear at
Jose Canseco's now infamous BBQ back in 1998, but McNamee has a compelling explanation for why he was able to remember that day so vividly (pages 26-27):
Q: We've received evidence that there was a team party at Canseco's house, but that Mr. Clemens was golfing that day and wasn't at the party. It sounds like you have a pretty clear recollection of seeing Mr. Clemens at this party along with some family members, is that right? Are you certain about that?
A: Roger showed up after golf, I believe. Maybe he was golfing. I don't know if he was golfing. He might have showed up a little bit later, but no, he was there the whole time for the most part. He was in the house. I could tell a specific story about him being there, which was involving Jose (Canseco), Jose's wife and Roger's wife when they went inside, when the guys showed up. I mean, they talked -- no disrespect, but they talked about how great Jose's wife's augmentation job was to Debbie and showed her. And then Debbie showed her her augmentation job.
Shocking, just shocking. Clemens is fighting for his reputation, but his wife can't be too happy about being caught in the fire: in the last week we've discovered that
Debbie Clemens abuses HGH and has a boob job. Just wait until next week's shocking revelation: she had her teeth capped and isn't a real blonde!

Someone needs to get a life and leave the Clemens family alone! The man is an awesome athlete and no one should take that away from him! Even if he tried it, everyone is entitled to a mistake! You can look at him and tell he is not an abuser! So, McNamee wants or has a book deal and the only way to do that is something negative! He (Clemens) deserves to go in the Baseball Hall of Fame and whatever else they have for elite athletes as does Andy Pettite! I love baseball but am not a diehard got to sit in front of the TV to watch it kind of fan! There are much worse things out there to concentrate on than picking on someone to make a buck! How can you sleep at night trying to make your money off of ruining someone else's life! Get a life and a real job! SHAME ON YOU!

McNamee wants to make his millions at the expense of ruining someone else's life! Roger Clemens is an awesome athlete and deserves the best of everything! Leave him and his family alone! If he made a mistake, so be it! Take your frustrations out on rapist, child molester's and murderers and not people that are an asset to any community! SHAME ON YOU!!!

Mr. & Mrs. Clemens are liars. They lied to their children. SHAME ON THEM!!!!! What kind of role models are they to their children? They both are discusting. They sure did make a mistake and he continues to lie. How will they explain this to their children? They are adults and know how to say NO if they are being injected by HGH or steriods. SHAME ON THEM!!!!!

V. KAY FERGUSON - ah... Roger? Is that you? I didn't know you could type. Let's not misremember that you're attempting to ruin Brian McNamee's life with a frivolous lawsuit. But maybe ruining lives is a privilege perquisite to the position of Awesome Athlete. I hope not.

How much time was devoted to Waxman's subcommittee discussion about Canseco's party? It had absolutely no relevance on the HGH issue other than to impeach the credibility of McNamee, who already has zero credibility. This whole episode is nothing more than an exercise in political grandstanding. And all of the comments that I have read above merely prove my point that the hearings accomplished absolutely nothing except to validate people's pre-existing biases, either way.

The major sports league have proven that they are unwilling, unable, or do not want to police their sports. It is about time someone gives them an ultimatum. One thing for sure, the baffoons in Congress proved they are not up to the task.

Clemens made quite the impression when he said "I don't know what a vegan is". Another rich dumb jock ! The roids did not make him any smarter but his head did appear to be massive.

I think the reason in referencing the small details such as those about a party is that a lot of people who make up things don't go into a lot of specific details. They are usually too hard to remember the next time you lie about the same incident. McNamee, is a slime ball...but you know...Clemens is okay with the world knowing his wife got HGH and other things but wants to keep his own rep clean. Clemens got paid millions, and MILLIONS, like Bonds, and probably hundreds of other players for cheating. Clemens is a bigger hero in his own mind. Sad time for the sport of baseball. What records do we go by, all of them are tainted in one way or another, since we will never fully know which player was on steriods on any given day, and wheter the pitcher he faced was on steriods or the catcher, the outfielder, or the shortstop. Put a large part of the blame on the teams and commish who turned a blind eye for probably 2 decades. Money...bottom line for everything here.

An asset to the community ? You have to be kidding ? I wouldn't let him near my kids for fear he talks to them about being a great ball player and the only way to get there is drugs. They should test his kids. V. kay, wake up ! maybe you should be tested also.

McNamee is a pig. Just look at the pictures in today's Newsday. He looks like he slept in his suit.
Alaso, if anyone would consider following a doctor's comments, they would see that HGH has no effect on any athlete's performance. HGH has to be combined with steroids for it to have any effect, and when used alone, it has no effect but to make the body of the patient look more muscular.
Also, if we look back to the late 80's, and early 90's, all the owners, and the powers that be of MLB
decided that they wanted to make the game more exciting. They decided that they didn't want any more 1-0, 2-1, 2-0, or any other low scoring games.
For this reason, I would hold the owners of each Major League Baseball Team, as well as the past, as well as the present Commissioner of Major League Baseball, along with the rest of the giverning body of MLB wholly responsible for the mess that this steroid problem has caused.
Finally, if I understand the facts correctly, all these players that are being questioned, as well as the one's who have asteriska attached to their records, and the one's who the Baseball Writer's of America are considering not voting for, if in fact they did take the banned drugs they are being accused of, took them before they were considered by MLB. Get rid of rats like McManee, and the Baseball world will be on the right path to cleaning up it's act.

I would like to know where Roger went to school, he can't even pronounce word correctly, guess it is because of what he took. I think he is guilty and a RAT for admitting his wife took HGH, and not being man enough to admit to the truth like Pettit. If I were his wife I would give him his walking papers, she could live very well without him. HGH is in all sports, go down the line of the ones that have had to give up metals for not telling the truth. Is it really worth it? Be a man Clements and tell truth and at least let your children you were man enough to tell the truth. Clements is just worried he won't get into the Hall of Fame; which now I personally believe he doesn't deserve after the lip licking scene yesterday with all the lies. At least McNamaee was man enough to admit he lies.

I thought there'd be more mudslinging between Barrack Obama and Hillary Clinton. That makes their argument seem petty compared to all the trash talking and mud slinging between McNamee and Clemens. It makes the democratic race seem boring. This is like Yankee fans and Red Sox fans getting together and putting each other down. Something to look forward to before March madness and spring training. Now McNamee is putting down Clemen's wife. Just recently Clemen's side mentioned that McNamee took advantage of a Tampa woman a few years ago who was allegedly under a date rape drug in a swimming pool while the Yankees and Clemens were playing the Devil Rays at Tropicana Field in St. Pete.
