Baseball is America's pastime, but had our forefathers enjoyed the modern conveniences of clocks, ball pumps, or haste, this pastime may well have been basketball or football. Instead, they had wood, leather, and a rudderless disposition. Baseball is Boring is a series of live blogs for folks who need irony and self-awareness to get through a game.
The NL East is quickly becoming one of the more interesting divisions in baseball as of late. Of course last year went to the NL West, which as everyone knows quickly disbanded when the state of California detached from the contiguous United States and recessed into the Pacific. To this day the grease lingers atop its surface.
The Braves and Marlins are tied in the win column coming into today, with the Marlins holding onto a game lead in standings. The Phillies (35-25) are 2.5 games ahead, although they have to face the mighty Volquez of the Reds, who's an even trade for Josh Hamilton only a pitcher and not on crack.
THE ESSENTIALS
The Marlins (31-26) start Mark Hendrickson (7-3, 5.27 ERA).
The Braves (31-28) start Tom Glavine (2-2, 4.56 ERA).
ANALYSIS
My only experience with Marlins comes from Donkey Kong 64. I'm, of course, talking about Enguarde. He could spear the hell out of pretty much anything/anyone in that game. A level that took you 3 minutes could be completed in 40 seconds, bonuses included. What I'm getting at is that until Native Americans start helping me whomp dudes in Doom I'm not picking them over the almighty fish.
PREDICTION
Marlins over Braves, 6-3.
QUICK NOTE ABOUT THIS LIVE BLOG
From here forth, my banal and worthless commentary can be read in the box below. It updates much like a one-way instant messenger conversation does, which means you do not need to keep refreshing the page. Feel free to comment in the box at the bottom -- if your sentiment is funny or poorly-informed enough, I may just post it in the blog. Enjoy!

When the Marlins won their first World Series, I actually started watching the game. I could name the players and even tell you who the nineth inning pitcher, the closer, was. Until then, I just wasn't a fan. I was excited when errors helped the Mets win back in the eighties, but that interest was sparked by the enthusiam of my daughter's first boyfriend, a NYC transplant. So, thr Marlins had a big win. There was a huge party that we vicariously enjoyed via the tube. So, Huizenga, who had bought the championship. sold the team, divested himself of the best players, and back we went to the bottom of the pool. So, it is all about business. All about money. The bottom line rules! Huizenga did the same with our Panthers. I actually started to like hockey. Huizenga sabotaged that, too. Then, adding salt to the wounds, the stadium built for the Miami Dolphins without public money, the Joe Robbie (RIP) stadium had a name change. Pro Player Stadium? What was THAT? Joe Robbie built that stadium so it could also be used for baseball with the intent to attract a baseball team to South Florida. It worked. Ever since, they have whined that they need their own stadium. The fight raged. Threats to leave abounded. Nothing was good enough. My interest has long since waned. I don't care. Baseball is long and tedious. Granted, it takes skill. Arguably, it takes more skill than the brawn of football with a few nods to QBs and wide receivers with sticky hands. But really, nine innings of ho hum with an occasional hit, much spitting, and the need to do more than just take a break at the seventh inning stretch have drained me.
Meanwhile, big bucks go to all of it. Brainiacs make pennies compared to brawn. Musicians, and by this I mean those who study for years to perfect a wondrous talent, not those who pick a guitar and scream, can expect to barely survive.
My interest in baseball, in sports in general, has withered.
Lakers vs Celtics? Well, maybe back in the day.
Ho hum.

ARE YOU KIDDING!!!..Basketball will never be as popular AS BASEBALL AND FOOTBALL..Baseball is Americas Pasttime..its History is the richest and most sacred of all the sports..ESPECIALLY the records in the game..
Go to a gym..can you shoot a free throw..yes..that makes you as good as Shaq..can you shoot a 3 point shot..yes..most likely..can you dribble a basketball and shoot it..yes..
Now..can you step in the batters box and hit a 90 mph fastball..NO..YOU CANT..can you stand on the pitchers mound and throw a 90 mph fastball for a straike..NO you cant..Can you drop back and throw a football pass to a running wide receiver and hit him in stride..NO you cant..I think you need to understand the skills to play the other games..Basketball is the easiest game to play AND THE MOST OVER RATED...that is why the U.S gets their butt kicked in International play ..
