Los Angeles Dodgers reliever Scott Proctor hasn't had a very good season out in LALA land. In 33 appearances Proctor has a 6.82 ERA and a WHIP of 1.89, which isn't exactly dealing to say the least. Well, after giving up the go ahead run against Jhonny Peralta on Saturday in a six run 11th inning, Proctor didn't hold his feelings back in the post game chat with reporters. He wants all the Dodger fans out there to know that contrary to the rumors, he's not injured. No, he just sucks (his words, Todd, not mine).
"I'm not talking about that. There is nothing (wrong), and I'm tired of people making excuses and saying I'm hurt. My job is to get outs, and I'm (expletive) pathetic. It's embarrassing to know this team battled like that all day and I pitched like that. It's (expletive) stupid. Now, now, Scott, don't be so hard on yourself. Sure, you're having a craptastic season and you've been easier to score on than Lindsay Lohan on ecstasy, but that's no reason to rip yourself in public. That's the media's job, and trust me, they'll do it for you.
"I'm embarrassed for myself in front of my teammates."
Everybody goes through rough stretches in this game, and you're just going through one of them right now. Take a few days off, go to the beach, spend time with the family. Whatever you have to do. I promise*, things will get better.
*By promise I mean I'm just saying anything to help make you feel better because you really do suck right now.

Well at least Proctor realezes it and is not blaming anyone else. He had some good early season outings, but Furcal was behind him then.
I am glad he is not using this crappy season as leverage for a better contract for next year.
I realize the Dodgers are having a terrible season so far and that injuries are a big part of it.
The lack of timely hits is killing the team, mediocre defense and inconsistent pitching are a big problem also.
But the biggest problem is the GM. He wastes all that money on Andruww Jones when he could have kept Luis Gonzalez another year for a song and still have some power in the lineup. With what he saved he would have been able to rewrite the contracts of those kids on the team who will be vets in a few years and become free-agents. And what gives with getting Berroa, any kid outta high school has as good as a glove as he does and likely would have a more enthusiastic bat. And Mark Sweeney, can we be spared with his lack of production and at least give some rookie right handed hitter in the minors a chance. The reason that Sweeney has so many career pinch hits is that he sucked as a position player and didn't start that much after his minimal fielding skills went south.
Here is a novel concept, stop signing injured players. The Jason Schmidt money could have gotten a stud starter from many teams. And the money spent on Jones is like a giant charitable donation to him. Canseco out of retirement would have been an improvement over Jones and more newsworthy.
Juan Pierre's wienie arm can't reach the cutoff man with out a bounce and the opposition knows it. Keep with Kemp, Ethier and move "anyone" from the minors up that can reach the infield with a throw from the warning track.
Tell Bimel his sideburns effect his vision to first base.
And find some old guys to be the ball boys like the Giants have so they can show the players what EFFORT looks like.
It's time to take a look inside Mr. McCourt and dcide what you really want to do.

There is nothing like a wise ass blogger to spoil what was a good storyline. Was it necesasary, Mr. Fornelli to mention Ms. Lohan's drug habits in this blog. I guees it makes you feel better to rip someone else for their weakness...

He'll never pitch better with that attitude. He needs more than a few days. Give him a week or 2 off.

Scott proctor did the right thing by blaming himself for the team's failures.

Hopefully, he'll regain his composure and start getting those outs. I'm not sure how much longer Dodgers fans can tolerate his poor performances.
Anyways, I'd like to let you know that I highlighted this blog post on my blog: http://dodgersdigest.blogspot.com/2008/06/around-dodgers-blogosphere.html
