Hope is a funny thing. Sometimes, when you haven't had any for a long time and a little bit starts to creep back in, you suddenly find it everywhere. Take Cubs' fans, for example. After 100 years, hope can be sparse. Now, with the Cubbies looking to head into the All-Star break with the best record in the National League, hope is everywhere. By everywhere, I mean, "Even in tiny hospital chapels in El Salvador."Indeed, late last week Bill McClellan of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch profiled Sister Colleen Olsen, a Cub fan and nun who saw an image of Cubby Bear next to a crucifix in a chapel she was praying at in El Salvador. Coincidence, or sign from above? You can draw your own conclusion, but she seems fairly certain that it means the big man is cheering for the Cubs this year.
First Kosuke Fukudome signs, then the Rich Harden trade goes down, now Cubby Bear is hanging out with Jesus in El Salvador. Things are looking pretty good for the Cubs, right? Just keep in mind that I heard a rumor that a Brewer fan in Waukesha had a very distinct message in his Alpha Bits this morning. They said, "CC." What are the odds of THAT?!?
