Charles Barkley Thinks We 'Should Line Up All the Paparazzi People Up and Shoot Them'

We've already heard from just about everyone re: MaRodonna. I think it's amusing, you don't seem to care and Jose Canseco just wants them to stop being so selfish and think about him for a little bit.

Now, apparently, it's Charles Barkley's turn to talk about it. Via LBS comes another anti-media quote by Sir Charles in which he thinks not so fond thoughts about the paparazzi who are hawking Alex Rodriguez down for photos.
Those people are so jealous of him, they got to nothing to do but try to destroy him with his personal business. Why would they follow him on the road to see what he's doing? They're trying to get him. There's so much jealousy around A-Rod. To question this guy's personal life, that ain't right at all.

[...]First off, we should line all these paparazzi people up and shoot 'em.
Surely he means figuratively. Which, well, okay, so that doesn't actually work; it does seem like standard Barkley hyperbole.

On the other hand though, A-Rod gets paid millions on millions to play baseball in New York. He decided to stay in New York, even after all the media harassment he took the first time around. I have a significant amount of trouble feeling sorry for him.

I'm not trying to claim that the paparazzi is a noble profession, but let's face it: America loves celebrity gossip, and if this stuff didn't get semi-intelligibly digested by half our country, basic economics would run them out of business.
