In nearly less time than it takes to round the bases after one of his moon-shot homers, Jose Canseco was knocked out by former NFL return man Vai Sikahema in their celebrity boxing match that was equal parts "Saturday Night Fever" meets "Road House." How's this for star power - 1993 Phillies World Series goat Mitch Williams was ringside for the main event.
Asked after the fight if there were any surprises, Sikahema said, "That it didn't finish in the first 30 seconds."
[...]But it was hardly worth it for Canseco, who boasted at Friday's weigh-in that he has "incredible knock-out power." All he did, however, was get knocked into next week.
Usually I think happy endings are relatively sappy. But in this case, I'm willing to make an exception. Despite playing a role in the unveiling of MLB's steroid culture, over the past few months, Canseco has been nothing short of a promiscuous media figure and a scourge for every decent minded C-list celebrity trying to keep up a respectful image.
Bear in mind, too, that all of this humiliation came after a substantial amount of back and forth between the two fighters. Vai told Jose to "pack his lunch" because he was going to kick his A, and Canseco naturally came back with the ever-so-tough, "We'll see, bro." The most telling line came from Vai to the media, when he said that Canseco was a "walking corpse, because he's rotted out inside. He's a pathetic figure."
And, yes, it stinks to see him get paid $35,000 for this sham of a sporting event. But we can at least sleep soundly for the next few days knowing that his public embarrassment shouldn't breed any more of these things. Not that it's ever stopped him before though.

Look on the bright side... Canseco getting $35,000 might mean that some of the folks holding his debts might get paid.
All I can say is it couldnt have happened to a better person I never liked Jose Canseco.
I think people should step back and take another long look at what Canseco did with blowing the lid od the steroid world in baseball. We will never really know if it saved anybody's son maybe yours, If your reading this. And then again some people never learn.

When he played 4 the A's, he was always in trouble. He was so jealous of Bonds and what Bonds could do it wasn't funny. I still believe in Bonds like most of us here do. But, they say almost a thousand players were on that stuff. Y pick on just 1 guy?? Bonds was not treated fairly. And Canseco was on steroids, and a big loser.
He is just giving Canseco credit for blowing the lid off the whole thing. Bringing attention to the issue brings it to the forefront and forces people to deal with it and attempt to solve the problem. This would hopefully save at least a kid or two. You're reacting to something that isn't even there.

Canseco is a scumbag for a multitude of reasons, and an opportunistic whore for ratting out people for the payday. What's even sadder is that MLB had to ignore the problem until a scumbag like Canseco brought the problem out in the open. If they had been upfront and dealt with the issue years ago, there wouldn't be such a huge negative cloud hanging around MLB any more.
Canseco gets scorned for telling the truth? MLB is a scam. Canseco just just confirmed what everyone else already knew. These chumps could never break records without doping. Will Brinson should write about brid watching or at least something he has a clue about.

Jose Canseco should just join the WWE. They can fix it so he can win, he won't get punched in the face for real, and they will let him use steroids.
As for MLB, Jose Canseco told the truth and exposed the whole steroid scandal. He did it because he is a publicity whore, but it was still the truth and it needed to be let out. We shouldn't condemn him for that. Everything he has done after that, maybe.
How do we really know that Canseco told the truth about steriods, other than his own use. Canseco is a publicity whore and wil say anything to get attention. He has no credibility. Jose Canseco is not a reliable informant, to say the least. If anything, Canseco only makes the issue more difficult to examine. And I am glad to see Canseco taking a beating in a boxing match. Canseco's representations about his own box skills may be as accurate as his representations about steriod use.

The fly ball that bounced off Canceso's head must have done more damage than what was initially suspected.
Though a lot of what Canseco said did confirm what a lot of rumors that were swirling around to the fans of the game. But he didn't do it to help expose the nasty underbelly of steroids and sports,it simply was the main course of the meal concerning how Canseco "made" himself into the pinup boy of steriods. The self professed doctor of mixcology of the steriod cocktail. And while he was doing it, he outed old friends and teammates. The incidental side dishes included a lot of infidelity, his beef on the road (the women he so lovingly boinked), his depressions (which may have been tied to steriod use Jose), his almost love child with Madonna and some other assorted sH*t. The book was to make money...not to help the game.

It is painfully obvious that Jose is broke and is resorting to making a spectacle of himself by engaging in so-called reality shows and the like.Perhaps,I am so glad that someone has knocked his ass out and maybe he will realize that he should be looking for a regular job to support his sorry ass.Maybe Burger King is hiring Jose!
