Fan are stupid, at least in terms of the mob mentality of finding blame. It's very easy when things are going wrong to look for someone to blame. Generally, that person is, in some sort of order: 1) the superstar player, 2) the coach or 3) the general manager. It's apparently Braves fans' turn to point fingers at Bobby Cox, which, to me, is absolutely ludicrous. But it's happening.
A significant segment of them believe manager Bobby Cox should be held accountable for the team's recent failings, that the venerable Braves skipper should be replaced. But they would be hard-pressed to find that opinion shared by any of those who play for him or compete against him.Yeah, ridiculous, right? And I'm not the only one. Chipper Jones feels the same way.
"He's not any different than he's ever been," Chipper Jones said of Cox, 67. "He's just not dealing with the same deck of cards that we had coming out of spring training.First of all, Chipper is dead on. The Braves have been injured and unfortunate this year, and nothing more. Secondly, most teams would kill to have Bobby running their ship (or having steered it to 14 consecutive division titles). And finally, this is a "JoePa Situation" in my mind.
"Other teams have had injuries, but not to the extent that we have. You give Bobby Cox the same deck of cards that we had coming out of spring training for a full 162 games, I guarantee you the standings look a lot different."
Bobby Cox gets to coach in Atlanta as long as he wants to. He won a World Series and he owned the 1990's. He gets that right. And he'll know when the time is right to step down. Not us.

I agree with Larry "Chipper" Jones that Bobby Cox should remain the manager of the Atlanta Braves as long as he pleases. It is not his fault that the Braves have had injuries to their key players.

thank god...its about time we see a player come on and say this. as a braves fan, i realize our failures in postseason's past isnt bobby's fault, at that time we only had great pitching-the same couldnt be said for the offense...even now its not just the injuries, its now once again-the bad offense

So when they win he gets credit and when they lose it isn't his fault. I guess he can stay there forever if those are the rules.
I guess no coach should be fired.

Its not B. Cox that is the problem. The Braves are just like the Yankmees. Unless you have the highest payroll your manager sucks. Bobby Cox and Joe Torre never won a world series or manager of the year unless their team was in the top 3 in payroll. Braves aren't there right now and they suck. Managers are overated and Cox heads the list.

Do you remember those 14 consecutive division titles? Because the braves weren't in the top 3 in payroll for 14 straight years and that streak is why Bobby gets most of the credit he does.

Anyone cold have won with Smoltz, Glavine and Maddox. The Braves have never been an offense team but no one noticed with the pitching they had. Now it really shows, guess whos to blame TERRY PENELTON. He is no good and it shows more every year. It is time for a change. The worst you could do is break even. Give it a shot (Frankure and Escobar needs some help). Terry was a great batter, but he had a different style and cannot convey it to different style hitters.
