I would imagine, though, that being Roger Clemens' son probably had something to do with being involved in a bar fight in Salem, Va., this weekend.
Clemens and Ori were charged with disorderly conduct and Goethals with assault and battery. All three were taken to the Roanoke County-Salem Jail before being released on bond, according to a news release from the Salem police.Naturally, no one is commenting. But it's odd that Clemens didn't have anything to do with the actual disorderly charge, since it seems pretty likely that he would have been one of the ones throwing down. Especially considering the Times note that he's been "catching catcalls from fans and media as his father contends with allegations of cheating on his wife, Debbie, and using performance-enhancing drugs during his baseball career."
[...] According to the news release, police were dispatched to a disturbance in the restaurant's parking lot at 2 a.m. on Sunday and, upon their arrival, found approximately 50 people in the lot.
The release does not describe any of the events leading to the arrests. It states only that Clemens and Ori were arrested on the scene and that Goethals was charged "after an employee of the restaurant obtained a warrant for his arrest" from the Roanoke County/Salem magistrate's office.
Considering there's a 90% chance that the fight stemmed from someone verbally assaulting Koby, I'll be interested to hear what Roger has to say about this. And pretty surprised if this is the last time something like this happens.

The kid will have a very hard time in his baseball career. it's a shame he is a kid, and had nothing to do with any of the "stuff" in question. Let the kid play ball , and see if he has what it takes. I'm rooting for you kid.

Kid? He is legally an adult, and thus responsible for his own actions. If he wants to make it in this business, he has to play the cards he was dealt.
He reaped the benefit of being Clemens's son when he was drafted by an organization that was very friendly with Roger during his tenure there. Now he has to pay the price.

This is the stupidest article I have ever read. Is AOL hiring Jr High kids as reporters now? Assuming because he is RC's kid that he MUST have been involved in the altercation, and it was SURELY because his dad is RC...blah blah blah blah blah. What a waste.

Sounds like Koby was NOT the main event. I don't know him, but it really SOUNDS like the media is trying to make a case against him because of his Dad. You can't choose your parents.
If he's been in a bar drunk, I might go along with this, but he was in a restaurant parking lot! Everyone eats!
Try judging him based on the things you KNOW he did or did not do.

This is not news. Koby Clemens is not a celebrity. This was an unpleasant incident in the life of a non-public figure.

Nice work AOL, you and the A-hole who wrote this article need to get a clue. This kid has enough to deal with being the son of RC. Now he has his face plastered all over the internet for the whole world to see and all over a minor incident that you people are blowing way out of proportion. Give the kid a break and find something newsworth to write about.

It is sad what you people at AOL consider news or important. I have to agree with acouple of the responses.. whoever wrote this article should be fired for his or her assertions.
His father was a great baseball pitcher.. he's father should have seeked better legal advice.. so that makes the son a target
Whoever wrote this get a life and a real job your not any good at this one.and .doesn't say much for whoever hired you and employes you...

Yeah, but neither are Lindsay Lohan and Paris Hilton.. In that respect, this is just as newsworthy.

The sad part of this story is his parent's did not encourage him to go to college and grow up before he went to the minor leagues. He would have had a better chance of success in life by playing ball in college for at least a couple of years and maturing as a player and a person.

The facts are, Clemens kid is no where good enough to play at the college level, and wouldn't be in the minors without the influence of a future HOF'er. The entitlement program in all major sports for the kids of MLB, NFL, NBA players is a joke. The scouts should look around, there are much better players out there if they give them a shot, players that know they have to work hard to stay.
