The Dugout: The Day of the Cassel

The sports world is clearly entering its endgame. Suppose that you are playing a game of chess. You've lost several crucial midgame pieces, such as your Bishop (Wandy Rodriguez), and worse, your Queen (Tom Brady). You don't have the position to go after the opposing King, so your objective is to move a pawn to the furthest rank and promote him (develop/trade/sign other talent). Which pieces are left to help get the pawns across? Your Cassels, naturally.

Today's Dugout is after the jump.

The Dugout

CasselInTheSky: Today, brother, is the day the Cassels clamber up the precipice to our destiny.

TheLastCassel: Indeed! As has been foretold.

TheLastCassel:

"Jackie,

I packed some Double Stufs in your lunchbox. Can't let my little birthday boy go without dessert! Don't let that bully give you any business. I know that he's been getting you down. But I also know that you Cassel boys will grow up to be someone really special!

xoxo
- Mom"

CasselInTheSky: It has been foretold!

TheLastCassel: IT HAS BEEN FORETOLD

CasselInTheSky: We did not choose the circumstances under which we will grasp the reins of humanity, but there are times at which we must recognize Destiny when he stares us in the eye.

TheLastCassel: But brother, we will succeed where the Knights Templar failed. They grew poisoned and corrupted by the world that surrounded them, usurping honor for wealth, burying their destinies in unmarked shallow graves, unloved and unknown.

CasselInTheSky: You speak the truth. Finally, finally, it is the day of the Cassel. We will mold the world as we see fit, with invisible hands, and for the better of mankind.

TheLastCassel: And indeed, what a serendipitous pair of happenings, that we should rise to prominence on the same day.

CasselInTheSky: Millennia from now, this day will be recounted in marquees, in statues, in dusty books on the shelves of French cathedrals.

CasselInTheSky: Come, brother. It is time to realize our destinies.

TheLastCassel: Let it be known: this was the First Day of the Cassel.

CasselInTheSky: A sacrifice to the Altar of Status Quo.

TheLastCassel: I shall now quote from the Book of Cassel:

"Never overwhelm, never underwhelm, simply be."

CasselInTheSky: A steady hand, keeping humanity on its present course.

TheLastCassel: It hasn't sunk in. We, the Cassels, rising to power.

TheLastCassel: . . .

TheLastCassel: kind of thought there would be more chicks
