If you weren't already aware, the Tigers and Indians had a little incident last night after Miguel Cabrera hit his 36th homer of the season, and Fausto Carmona followed it up by hitting Gary Sheffield with a pitch on the elbow. Now, as anybody who has paid attention to The Sheff throughout his career already knows, Mr. Sheffield is an angry man.Of course, Gary controlled his temper for a little bit, choosing only to glare at Carmona as he walked to first base, but once Carmona tried to pick him off, Gary charged at him, the benches cleared, and all the pushing and shoving that accomplishes nothing followed. Still, even though the fight ended on the field, that doesn't mean it's over in Gary's head. After the game Gary channeled his inner WWE wrestler, and sent a message to Carmona that soon the 24-inch pythons will run wild on them. Oh yeah!
"If I hit two home runs, normally guys send a message to me," Sheffield said. "I wasn't the one hitting the home runs. Just because someone else hit a home run on you, don't take it out on me.
"Anytime you do that, we're going to have problems. I don't care who you are, how big you are. Anytime I get hit because you're upset about something else, we're going to deal with it during the game, after the game, or whenever you want to deal with it."
But Gary, it looked like Fausto got more shots in on you than you got on him.
"I got the one in I needed to get in," Sheffield said. "And I guarantee you he felt it."Okay, well why did you wait until you were already at first base before deciding it was time to defend your honor? Don't you want to wait for the main event at the Royal Rumble?
After the pickoff throw, Sheffield said he told Carmona, "Throw the ball to home plate." Then he said Carmona gestured toward him.Oh man, I had no idea. You had no choice at that point. Still, it looked like some of the other guys from Carmona's posse got some shots in on you as well. Should they be watching their backs?
"He called me out," Sheffield said. "I answered the call. If you call me out, I come. That's the way it is."
"I know who they are," Sheffield said. "They're going to have to deal with me."Will anything stop you from getting your revenge and reclaiming the WWE title?
"There's a certain point I get to, it's hard to come back from." Sheffield said. "And when I get there, you're going to deal with it today, tomorrow and until the day I get you."Wow, the Royal Rumble is going to be so sweet this year.

I don't think they're going to stretch the Carmona/Sheff angle until January. I see the blowoff being at MLB Armageddon in December.

Maybe he should lay off the "cream and the clear". It is leading to roid rage.

Gary Sheffield tries to use his glare and mean temper as weapons and a way to get his way. C'mon! Baseball is a game of skill and athleticism....not one for bullies and street fighters. He wants to fight? Let him go to the bars and streets where all the other jerks hang out. His comments about "getting back" at his perceived tormentors have no place in baseball. Grow up, Sheffield!

What else can be said for "Shef". I've been saying for years he should be banned from baseball. I mean, Shoeless Joe and Pete Rose are permanently banned for even POTENTIALLY throwing games. This clown has admitted, on more than 1 occasion, he intentionally dogged it and threw games back when he was a Brewer, all because he wanted out of Milwaukee so badly.
He didn't seem to have a problem cashing the checks though...
