After 7 1/2 seasons in a Red Sox uniform in which he won two World Series rings and became a local icon, one would think
Manny Ramirez would get over his bad feelings towards the Red Sox. Maybe he will eventually, but that doesn't seem to be coming any time soon. In fact, in an interview with the LA Times' T.J. Simers this weekend,
he says that he never liked playing in Boston.
"Every day I thank God I came here and had the chance to show people who I really am," he says. "The guy you see here -- that's who I am."
[...]
"The first time I stepped foot in Boston, I said to myself, 'Whoa.' I told Pedro Martinez, 'Damn, man, I just want to get traded and get out of here; this place is not me.' I was unhappy for eight years in Boston but still put up great numbers."
Yeah, um, I'm not buying it. The guy that Manny is in L.A. is exactly the guy he was in Boston and Cleveland before that. He's just a moody guy. Right now he's hitting almost .400 and slugging over .700 and leading L.A. to the playoffs, so he loves L.A. In a week, maybe the Dodgers will have been humbled by the Cubs after Manny struggled through the NLDS, at which point he will hate L.A. and be ready to file for free agency.

Manny will LOVE the Dodgers.......as long as they give him 4 years at 100 million. If they don't , the man-child will bash them on his way out of town and will bash any team that refuses to meet his demands.

I think LA works for him because there is no pressure to succeed and there are way more visible people on the landscaping making mistakes. The question is - will TMZ follow him with a video camera?

manyy is just another self centered, egotistical ass who pouts and refuses to be a team player. if he was so disatisfied in boston why the hell didn't ask to be traded the minute he felt unwanted. it was the $$$$$$$ and that's what it always with these pampered jerks. may he fall on his face in the nlds. a baseball fan and a red sox fan

I think people treat Manny like he's just the insane, spoiled and mercurial brat. But whose to say Boston was uncomfortable for him? Not money wise. i think he would leave Boston no matter what. Manny didn't even ask for a lot in his initial deal that was all his agent.
He saw how they treated Pedro and Nomar and he never trusted them after that.
But i think he hated Boston the city too. Not the fans, in the stands per se, but i think he felt the whole city was always watching him. Keep in mind Manny didn't even speak for years in Cleveland because he was used to the sheltered spanish speaking NYC neighborhood. So is it hard to believe that in LA people love him but he's not constantly watched that he would enjoy it?
but nah he's just a spoiled athlete

From acting like a clow to faking injuries against pitchers he fears to knocking down old men & generally acting like a 12 year old Manny is the perfect modern athlete: a spoiled child encased in a brilliantly gifted body, though fat & out of shape body.

ALL THIS CRAZY TALK ABOUT MANNY IS MEANINGLESS... JUST PRODUCE....THIS GUY HAS 527 HOMERS AND 1700 PLUS RBI.... AND HE IS NOT A TEAM PLAYER? DO YOU THINK LA WOULD HAVE EVEN GOT TO THE PLAYOFFS WITHOUT MANNY?

bostons lose and dodgers gold mine, thanx boston for giving us manny ,the only lfet to see is whther the so called owners sign him, the way it looks is that if boston picked up to pay manny whats left on his contract then we as real fans of the dodgers would like to see the dodgers sign manny as their own and that my friend would make a positve statement, and with all the young players the dodgers have we could see another dynasty if we saty together, that would be incredible

I am from Washington Heights and attended the same H.S as Manny. As a person i may not think much of the dude, but as an athlete i think he is DEFINITELY a top 10 hitter all time. We need to keep things in perspective. Sometimes we tend to judge athlete's personalities and allow that to affect the way we view them........ Plus he signed his rookie card for me. haha GOOOOOOO MANNY!
