Manny: 'Every Day I Thank God I Came Here'

After 7 1/2 seasons in a Red Sox uniform in which he won two World Series rings and became a local icon, one would think Manny Ramirez would get over his bad feelings towards the Red Sox. Maybe he will eventually, but that doesn't seem to be coming any time soon. In fact, in an interview with the LA Times' T.J. Simers this weekend, he says that he never liked playing in Boston.
"Every day I thank God I came here and had the chance to show people who I really am," he says. "The guy you see here -- that's who I am."

"The first time I stepped foot in Boston, I said to myself, 'Whoa.' I told Pedro Martinez, 'Damn, man, I just want to get traded and get out of here; this place is not me.' I was unhappy for eight years in Boston but still put up great numbers."
Yeah, um, I'm not buying it. The guy that Manny is in L.A. is exactly the guy he was in Boston and Cleveland before that. He's just a moody guy. Right now he's hitting almost .400 and slugging over .700 and leading L.A. to the playoffs, so he loves L.A. In a week, maybe the Dodgers will have been humbled by the Cubs after Manny struggled through the NLDS, at which point he will hate L.A. and be ready to file for free agency.
