At last, the playoffs are upon us. After a grueling 162-game regular season, it's time to finish with a flurry. There's a tripleheader on tap starting this afternoon, but until the games get underway, how about we here at FanHouse whet your appetite with some prediction-flavored hors d'oeuvres. Our crack blogging team made their picks last night all the way through the World Series. After the jump you can see all the predictions, but before you check them all out, a few demographic notes:
--Despite the American League's clear dominance right now, an overwhelming majority picked a National League team to walk away with the title.
--The biggest underdog? The Phillies according to our guys. Only two people picked the Fightin's to beat the Brewers in the first round.
--No one picked the Red Sox to repeat. I guess everyone is spooked by Josh Beckett's injury.
--Both of our resident Cubs fans picked them to win the Fall Classic. They're either going to be very happy at the end of the month or are being set up for another tremendous letdown.
With that out of the way, enjoy, and feel free to make your picks in the comments. (And if you want a good laugh, check out our preseason picks).

Hey Bois....are ya smokin crack? The Sox to win it all? Did you watch not last nights game but the night before? Little league team all around. The Sox in the playoffs is a joke. They had their lead for almost 3/4 of the season and the blew it. Oh you must not have looked at September when you made your pick.
American by birth. Bleed Cubbie blue by the grace of God!

Yes, because the Cubs have NEVER blown a division lead late in a season. No sir.
Besides, if you win the division -- which I'm pretty sure they just did -- you can't blow the lead.

Reminder to sbender808. Getting in with the injuries down the stretch was quite an accomplishment. Although it wasn't pretty, it shows alot of character to hang in and win when needed. Anything can happen in the playoffs, let's not forget they won in 2005 and much like that team are experienced and built for the playoffs. It's how you perform in the playoffs that counts now and Tampa has never been there. Let's see what transpires over the next week. Good luck

I can't believe only two of us picked the Phillies over the Brewers. That was my toughest first round selection.

Brew Crew to win it all over BoSox. CC will pitch a complete came 2-1 7th game victory. The 2 runs will be courtesy of a Russell Branyan pinch-hit home run in the bottom of the 9th.

Go Rays!!!! Don't count them out, look where they are. They are great at coming from behind when they have too. The game isn't over till it's over.

All I know is that 8 of the 10 of these so-called "experts" thought the Boo-crew would trump the Fightin's, but they couldn't be further from reality right now. Phils will win game 1 with Hamels vs some unknown 22 year old, Brewers take game 2 with CC, but then the Phils take over and beat them up for games 3 and 4. Next the Phils take on the Dodgers, who will win a tight series against the Cubs. Dudgers lose and Phils advance to the WS where they will face the Angels, clearly the most superior team in the AL race. That will be decided by 1 run in 6 games. Any bettors?

I wouldn't trust the Rays. Unlike other WS contenders they don't have a truly dominant pitcher. Kazmir and Shields are good, but can't match up with a dominant pitcher like CC, Beckett, Lackey/Ervin Santana, Carlos Zambrano, etc.

What? No one picked the Angels to win the Series? I want to see the Red Sox win but I don't think that they're going to get past the Angels. For that matter, I don't think anyone will be able to get by the Angels. They have the best team in baseball.

never count out the red sox with three top flight pitchers like dice-k beckett and lester they may never need a 4th starter and all three of these pitchers are capable of winning every game they start if they can find a way to beat the angels they just may go all the way if big papi hits they'll be tough especially with elesbury and pedroia getting on base and scoring runs they put heavy pressure on the other team

Holy Ron Howard!!! You people just aren't doing your homework! Today's 3-1 victory over the Brewers is a sign of what is to come....great pitching, terrific defense, timely hitting...
Lidge never in 42 times, never lost a save. 80-0 in wins when leading into the ninth inning! Manuel the best coach around!
There will be cheesesteaks covering Broad Street in Philly at the end of October in celeration of the World Series!

I'm actually glad that nobody picked my Angels! That may just give them a little more incentive to do what they've been doing ALL YEAR! They are the only team to win 100 games, and nobody picks them? Was this pole taken at a bingo parlor?
