With all that's happened between the Red Sox and Manny Ramirez, I wouldn't have been surprised to find that Manny would have a reluctance to talk about his former team, or that there was a hint of lingering bitterness towards the Red Sox organization. But it's not like that at all. In fact, even though Manny is now decked in Dodger blue, he apparently still carries his Red Sox Nation card in his wallet ... because he's rooting for Boston to get to the Series to face his Dodgers. "I've got my boy David Ortiz and [Mike] Lowell and all those guys," Ramirez said. "I'm pulling for them."Let's see: Hitting for average? Check. Hitting for power? Check. Baserunning? Check. Throwing? Check. Fielding? Yup, Bay can do that too. So what's that sixth tool? Makes a mean Chicken Marsala? Great at Scrabble? Renaissance man? Able to resist the urge to use the bathroom behind the Green Monster during a pitching change? I don't know. Whatever it is, it's a tool that's working well for the Red Sox in the playoffs as they're now on their way to play Tampa Bay in the ALCS while Manny and the Dodgers are prepping for Philly in the NLCS.
Although Ramirez would only say "anything's possible" to a potential World Series matchup between the Dodgers and Red Sox, with the left fielder noting both clubs have to first beat some tough opponents, he joked around about the trade that sent him packing to the West Coast in a three-team deal that landed Boston left fielder Jason Bay. (...)
"That was a good trade," Ramirez said. "I think it was the right move. [Bay] can run, play the outfield. He's got six tools. I've got five."
With all those tools between them, would that make a Dodgers-Red Sox World Series like, Tool Time?

Manny says the Red Sox got more tools in Jason Bay but the big tool that he took with him is the headache's that he gave the Boston Red Sox. Being a Sox fan "Manny being Manny" was cute at first but his constant complaining and dislike for Boston quickly got old my desire was to trade him much sooner than the Red Sox made the deal. Possibly his contract was just to extravagant, which it is, for most teams.
It will be interesting to see if the Dodgers will pay Manny, who says he loves it there, the money that he demands.
All in all Jason Bay has filled the role Manny left perfectly and the plus side is, Manny being Manny is gone for good.

Being a RedSox fan--I was glad to see Manny go. The only troubling thing is what should I do with my FatHead of him? Seeing him in Dodger Blue is real disturbing after spending that much money on his life-size Fathead. I truly believe that both teams made out like a bandit in this trade. We(Redsox)never have to watch Manny trot to 1st base at a snails pace again. Another good thing that needs to be mentioned is that Terry Francona never has to worry if his player will be wiling to play that day. Jason Bay is a first-class player with heart. Manny is a wanker that needs his ego stroked in order to be happy. Go REDSOX!!!!

All I know is you cannot compare Jason Bay's little numbers to Manny, on top of that, pitchers/managers will pitch to Jason Bay, more than likely you'll get an out from him,,,,Manny Ramirez, a different story, as a manager and as a pitcher, you'll have to pitch around him and hope to God that the RBI Machine doesn't do the damage he's so used to do......me and my brother always argue to who is the best hitter in the game, to me Albert Pujols, to my brother well you guessed right,,,,Manny Ramirez it is...anyhow lets wait for 2009.

Which Manny are you talking about? There was the Manny who was traded and was not playing like he could if he wanted to, and then there is the Manny that had something to prove in LA, and he did a good job of that most of the time. Manny gets bored, or sulks, or whatever?? You never know which one will show up. With Jason Bay, I have seen a more predictable player, and it has been real good. It helps more with a "team" approach. I always hated seeing Manny "dog it"...I could never get used to that...GO RED SOX!!! mo

I don't know what will happen in the Play-offs......Don't know how far the Sox will get.But one thing I do know for sure and that is that Manny should be fined by MLB baseball. A contract is a contract and he has no respect for anything....How many of you would knock an elderly man on the floor and continue to rant and rave at him while he was down????We, as fans in Boston adored Manny. We over looked so many little "Manny Moements" . Until this year nothing really hurt anyone but Manny....When a whole "Nation" is glad to be rid of him once and for all even though that move hurts the outcome of the team Doesn't that tell you something?....Don't be fooled by him.......He has no loyalty........and he doesn't care about his fans. Believe me. Year after year he told RSN how glad he was to be there, how he wants to retire a Sox, go to the hall of fame as a Sox. He tells you what he thinks you need to hear.....then he sees dollar signs.......(even though he signed a contract) wrong wrong wrong......

im glad we got Manny out here in LA. I would love to see Manny back in Boston wearing Dodger blue. I'm sure some Red Sox's fan wont wanna see Manny being Manny again. This would be a great series. I'm glad the Sox's beat the Anaheim Angels (Orange County)of LA... There's is only one LA team and that's the Dodgers! Frank McCourt should get out his wallet and sign Manny now. with the money he spent on some player whio didn't do anything the past few years, get rid of them and get this guy back in our lineup for the next year. im sure all the Dodger fans want him back, as long as the beer and parking doesn;t go up again. Dont ya think you owe this to the fans???? since you didn't drop the prices of the brewski's likethe guy down in OC did when he bought the team. The only thing you have done is raise prices on us.
