Kosuke Fukudome is a mystery wrapped inside of an enigma wrapped inside of a big, untradeable contract and a swing that sort of resembles a dradle. A great first half of the season ended with Fukudome swinging wildly at everything, and usually missing. It was a weird year. Now, Lou Piniella has to figure out what to do with Fukudome. He's too expensive to trade or send-down, so, apparently, he's decided to send him to center field to platoon with Reed Johnson.
Leave it to Piniella to come with a creative solution. Can't trade him; can't farm him. Platoon him! It seems simple enough, but I would never have thought of it. It also means that Jim Edmonds is probably gone. The world's smallest violin plays for Jim today.

You can certainly farm him. He has 3 option years, just like anyone else.

I don't see that coming. Pie will get the first shot again and this time it looks like he may stay up. He cut down on his K's in AAA and the cubs like him and his speed. They have plenty of time to work with KF and he will be the project they will address the most in spring training. He hit early and then something changed. He is a solid RF and he will be there again in 2009.
