Manny Being Choosey: It's Ned Colletti Calling

You pick up the phone, and it's Ned Colletti from the Dodgers. He says that he's willing to up the ante from his original offer of $50 million over two years to an unreal $85 million over three seasons. Colletti will even agree to throw in an automatic fourth year at $22 million, as well as all the Skittles you can eat, if you win an MVP award.

Scott grabs the phone out of your hand and asks why the Dodgers can't go up to a fifth season, and is met with the honest retort of: "Look, your client doesn't exactly have the shelf life of a Twinkie."

Weighing all of the offers, you decide that Los Angeles is the perfect city and situation for you, and you tell Colletti to set up the press conference.

You get to Dodger Stadium in your best suit, hit the special podium set up for you at second base, and look at the contract lying in front of you. In true Hollywood style, you're going to sign that contract in front of the media, the fans, and the entire casts of every incarnation of 90210 ever made.

But right before you put pen to paper, with the entire spotlight on you, you think to yourself, "You know, why am I doing this? I've done everything there is to do in this game. I've won two World Series, gone to numerous All Star games. I've been a cult hero wherever I've gone, I've made all the money I could ever need -- should I be doing this with my life? Do I need a new challenge?"

Dismiss such thoughts and put pen to paper
