The closer we get to spring training, the more likely it is that Manny Ramirez is going to sign with the Los Angeles Dodgers. It just makes sense. The Dodgers want him to stay in Los Angeles after the spark he brought to the team after coming over last summer, and they're the only team who has made an offer close to what Manny and Scott Boras think Ramirez deserves.
Of course, just because that seems obvious to anybody who is paying attention to the proceedings, that doesn't mean Scott Boras isn't going to do everything in his power to trick the Dodgers into giving Manny the huge contract. Which is probably why he's talking about all these other teams that are interested in his client now.
"We are negotiating with several teams," Boras said Monday night. "The process has begun and we'll see where it takes us."And by "negotiating with several teams," I'm pretty sure Boras means either, "nobody else but the Giants, who don't want to give us three years" or "a couple of teams have called just to see if we've lowered the asking price yet since Spring Training is only three weeks away."
Boras said interest in Ramirez has perked up over the last week, but he would not specify the number of clubs involved. He said he remains in regular contact with general manager Ned Colletti of the Dodgers, who tried to re-sign the left fielder with an initial two-year, $45 million offer (plus an option) that was ignored and withdrawn.
I understand Boras' determination to get Manny the big contract seeing as how he's one of, if not the, greatest hitters I've ever seen, but at some point he's just going to have to accept the fact that in this economy, with Manny turning 37 in May, it's just not going to happen. Take the Dodgers' two-year, $45 million offer with an option for the third year and call it a day.

i hope nobody signs that turd. he should just go away.
I still the yankees are going to sign him.I just dont see hank let him go i know cashman and joe does not want him.But the timing is perfect with joe torre book coming out get manny and the pressure will be off A-ROD manny can take it.And in october i can hear MANNY MANNY just like the old days REGGIE REGGIE.I know i wont hear A-ROD A-ROD.
AFTER WHAT MANNY PULLED ON THE RED SOX. I THINK ANY TEAM WILL THINK TWICE BEFORE SIGNING HIM. MANNY BEING MANNY. BORAS BEING BORAS. THROW BOTH OF THEM OUT OF BASEBALL.
the yankees should sign him ,so Joe Torre has to deal with that horrible line up that has no pop at . then maybe after he fail Mr Colletti will fire his book writing ass. for those of you who will say Joe knows how to manage runs without a line up without pop is wrong . remember the red sox & Yankee game when schilling was hurt where was the small ball plays of bunting or stealing bases .
Good luck Manny....I hope he (Boras) does a better job with you than he did with Jason Varitek
I think Boras and Manny are both jackasses. I wish Coletti would call Boras' bluff and say " Go take your better offer you prick. Bye Manny." Don't think for minute that most of this is because of the way Manny tanked on the Red Sox. No one wants to pay that much for someone who always puts himself before the team. I hope Manny twists in the wind a lot longer.
Sorry, I meant to say "Don't think for a minute that most of this ISN'T because of the way Manny tanked on the Red Sox.
Scott Bores us is just trying to create a market for this idiot when there is none. Trying to drive up the price for this moron. I'm sure an outfielder who can't catch, doesn't run out ground balls unless in a contract year and has the I.Q. of a boiled egg is in high demand. Scotty boy, your boy Manny did it to himself. Lets hope some baseball team doesn't do it to their fans. I am sure there is a place in hell for Scott and Drew, the real problem with baseball. Agents!!
