McNamee Provides Clemens DNA Match

Apparently, storing all those gauze pads and syringes in his basement like some nut job is going to pay off for Brian McNamee. Reports are surfacing that the evidence provided from the former trainer of Roger Clemens provides a DNA match to the once-mighty pitcher.

Next up, the scientists on the case are trying to determine if there are traces of steroids or HGH in the syringes.

Seriously, though, does it even matter? What if the scientists can't determine what was in the syringes? Are we all to believe Clemens over McNamee at this point?

Obviously, prosecutors need a match for their case to hold as much water as possible. For me, though, that ship has sailed. The more distance we get from the situation, the more obvious it is that McNamee has been telling the truth the entire time. He initially didn't even want to testify against Clemens, then was forced to do so by the feds. There's really no reason to believe McNamee is making any of this up, so why would he have lied about injecting Rocket with illicit substances?

Of course, Clemens' side will have you believe McNamee is creating everything to fulfill some sort of massive witch hunt. It doesn't make sense because he has nothing to gain by lying. I'm not sure why he saved all these syringes and gauze pads, but he did. And the DNA on the evidence matches Clemens'. That's not an accident, although, to hear it from Rocket's lawyer, Rusty Hardin, it doesn't matter.
"It will still be evidence fabricated by McNamee," Hardin told the paper. "I would be dumbfounded if any responsible person ever found this to be reliable or credible evidence in any way."
Well, I'm not necessarily saying I'm "responsible" in Hardin's eyes, but I think the evidence is very credible, and quite damning. From his treatment of Mindy McCready to Brian McNamee, it's painfully obvious Clemens is a selfish man -- willing to take anyone down in a desperate attempt to salvage his credibility. All he had to do was own up to his mistakes like a man, instead he's wasting tons of time and money -- all the while making himself, and everyone close to him, appear worse in the public eye.

Next up, his perjury charges for lying to Congress.
