Lou Piniella Won't Take Ozzie Guillen's Phone Calls

While games between the Chicago Cubs and Chicago White Sox don't seem to hold as much meaning anymore now that they play each other at least six times a year, folks in Chicago still seem to get pretty worked up over meetings between the two. So there's no doubt that certain White Sox fans will be hearing about the Cubs 13-0 pasting of the White Sox in Cactus League play on Saturday.

Which is why, as a Sox fan, I'll be screening any calls I get from Cubs fans today. Or maybe, if I feel like mixing it up, I'll just do what Lou PIniella does anytime Ozzie Guillen gives him a call. I'll hang up.

Before the two teams got together on Saturday, Guillen apparently gave Piniella a phone call to see if he wanted to use a designated hitter during the game, but before he could ask, Lou hung up on him.
"Evidently he was little upset because he wanted to use the DH today, and I couldn't hear who it was so I hung up on him," Piniella said with a laugh.

"I told Ozzie when I left a message, 'Whatever you want, we'll accommodate you.' So today he told me: 'Can I have a couple of your players?' "
When talking about the incident, Guillen joked that it's easier for him to pick up a phone and talk to Barack Obama then it is Lou Piniella, and it's funny because it's probably true. Hell, Obama's probably calling Ozzie on a daily basis to get updates on the battles for the fifth spot in the rotation and center field.
