Adam Jones Feels Nothing for Seattle

It has to be somewhat painful for Mariners fans to see Adam Jones having so much success in Baltimore. He was once the future of the franchise in Seattle before the evil Bill Bavasi sent him to the Charm City as part of a package for Erik Bedard. In his first season in Seattle, Bedard missed most of the season thanks to injuries and he has been pretty good this year.

Still, when Mariners fans see that Jones is hitting .344 with an OPS of 1.008 and 11 homers and 36 runs driven in for the Orioles, it has to sting. You know what probably stings more though? Well, Jones made his third trip back to Seattle on Monday and when asked if he had any special feelings for the team and city that gave him his first chance at big league stardom he let Seattle know that he's moved on.
"Nothing," he said flatly when asked if he had any special feelings coming back.

No sentimentality? Nothing?

"Nothing," he said. "It's just a regular city. We're on the road. We just got to come here and do what our team tries to accomplish on the road."
This is like being engaged to somebody, only to have them call off the wedding about a week before it takes place, and then when you see them again a year later they're engaged to some billionaire that is way better looking than you are.

Well, OK, maybe it's not exactly like that, seeing as how the Orioles have the same record as the Mariners right now, but you get the point. It still hurts.

Of course it's hard to blame Jones for feeling this way. After all, he's now played 178 games in an Orioles uniform, and had his greatest big-league successes in Baltimore, long after only playing 73 games with the Mariners.
