Jose Canseco Responds to Criticism

Jose CansecoJose Canseco has fired back in a war of words between him and his teammates from 1989 A's.

Before the A's hosted a reunion of the World Series championship team on Tuesday, Giants hitting coach Carney Lansford said he was glad that Canseco wasn't coming because Canseco had not endeared himself to teammates by writing a tell-all book.

On Wednesday, Canseco responded on SportsNetCentral, a sports news show produced by Comcast Sports Net Bay Area.
"All the other players that were mentioned in my book, or have come out, tested positive for steroids, have gotten multi-year contracts, are millionaires, and still in the game of baseball. So obviously Carney Lansford is one of the most ignorant individuals I've ever met to say that I've ruined other people's lives."
In excerpts of a Canseco interview released to the media, Canseco had no response to comments by former teammate Dave Stewart that A's players disliked Canseco long before his book was published.

Canseco also denied that the A's even invited him to the reunion.
"I was never invited and believe me, Major League Baseball and any their associates want nothing to do with me, so there's no way I was invited to that."
