If you're a Cardinals, Phillies, Dodgers or Rangers fan, I have some good news for you. Actually, it's good news to anybody who loves baseball but doesn't root for the Red Sox or Yankees. While the Blue Jays still seem intent on moving their ace, Roy Halladay, before the July 31 trade deadline, it's becoming apparent that it won't be to either Boston or New York.Which makes a lot of sense. Why would you want to send one of the most dominant pitchers in the game to one of the two teams who have been dominating you for years? Now while they're not coming out and saying it, according to SI's Jon Heyman Toronto doesn't want to do anything foolish.
Executives familiar with the trade talks say Jays people told the Yankees and Red Sox that they prefer to deal Halladay -- if he's dealt at all -- to a team outside their division. Further proving their point, the Jays haven't followed up recently on a Yankees call expressing interest 10 days ago.Which is great news for the Phillies because if it's true and the Jays really are freezing out Boston and New York, two of their biggest competitors to land Halladay have just been removed from the equation. Plus, I would think that any National League team has an advantage over any American League team whether they're in the Jays' division or not.
Jays GM J.P. Ricciardi won't publicly rule out an intra-divisional blockbuster, but a directive to look elsewhere first may come from above. This is such a big deal, one competing executive said, that acting club president Paul Beeston and ownership are heavily involved.
If you're going to move somebody of Halladay's caliber it's only natural you'd want to move him somewhere you don't have to worry about facing him.

You get paid to write the obvious? I stated this days ago. Maybe I can get a job writing what most sports fans are smart enough to already know. I'm sure fans all over the world have said that he wont go the sox or yankees. How about educating fans instead of treating them like they need to be told this stuff. "wow i would think the jays want Halladay kicking their ass every chance he got, good thing you told us otherwise" ......Give me a break

Don't kid yourself genius. If the Yanks or Red Sox made the Jays a good offer, Halladay would be in NY or Boston in a second.
This is just the Jays way of pushing Halladay's worth upward. Damon said he would never play for the Yanks. Remember a guy named Clemens? Guess where they played...yup, and in their own division. This article is b.s.

let me put it this way the jays know that money talks & bullshit walks or better yet money plus prospects equal a trade within the division .

The Red Sox have already stated that THEY DON'T WANT HIM. We are not giving up the farm system for a guy that will be a Yankee in 2 years when his contract is up.
Texas is stupid if they do that.

Isn't it time for a cap within baseball? It's getting rediculous and turning otherwise decent guys into whores and with the occasional exception ( Rays 08)a very predictable and oh so boring season. The parity created within the NFL with their financial checks and balances has made football much more interesting. It calls for putting together a team with more creativity, thought, and intelligence than just writing big checks to over-paid prostitutes (AKA AJ,CC,A-Roid, Tex et al,)

The Red Sox would welcome a cap. Our owners have stated it before. We don't spend the money we do because we want to. We spend it because we have NO choice being in the same division as the Yankees. PERIOD.
