The Yankees are in serious discussions with the Reds about acquiring Bronson Arroyo, although right now the deal may be hinging on how much of Arroyo's remaining contract the Reds are willing to eat, major league sources told FanHouse on Monday.Arroyo, 32, is due nearly $4 million for the rest of this season, plus $11 million in 2010 and a $2 million buyout or a $11 million option in 2012. Arroyo is 10-9 with a 5.21 ERA, but he has a 2.08 ERA in his past three starts.
Reds top officials met via conference call this morning, an indication to one big-league source that they were "close to a deal." Arroyo remains the scheduled starter for Tuesday night's game against the Padres, according to Cincinnati's official Twitter account, however the Yankees have two scouts in Cincinnati.
Fletcher: Yanks Scout Lee | Price: Red Sox in on Halladay
The Yankees had a scout in Seattle specifically to see Lee pitch on Sunday against the Mariners, a source said.
Lee is the next-best alternative to Halladay, but he'll also come at a steep price. The Indians have him signed for next year, when they have reasonable hope of contending again.

What the hell does Matsusaka have to dowith a Halladay deal? Matsusaka is not that much money, not even close to what Halladay will demand. Matususaka's contract hinged on a $52 million dollar payment to his Japan team to allow the Sox to speak with him. Comparing Halladay and Matsusaka is idiotic. Halladay is a horse, a CY Young candidate evry season and instantly makes the Sox the favorites. I would say if they want Bard in any deal NOT to do it, other than that, get it done.

Instead of Arroyo I think the Yanks should go after Aaron Harang, even though his record isn't that great this year I like his stuff.

The trade deadline should end no later than June 30. These late season trades ruin the game and penalize the teams that did their homework during the off season.

i'm not sure i quite understand...why do the Reds my favorite team always give up their good players. every year we lose our best players to god knows who and we're stuck with farm players. i'm sick of the losing, but why do we let our good players go, i've been a loyal fan since 1978 and i'm appalled at the player that are traded!

The reason our good players keep leaving year after year is due the the fact that OWNERSHIP will not add money to the pay roll.

It's shaping up to be a fun post season.
Nothing beats a post season when the Red Sox (Sawks) and the New York Yankees are there going head to head. And the Angels are tough too.
As a lifetime Yankees fan I look forward to putting the Beantowners back in their customary role as losers ;) . On a slightly more serious note Boston has good fans. And I'm one of the few Yankee fans that will give that up. But oh how do I love sending them home for the season.
It's the best rivalry in ALL of sports. Go Yanks!
