It's a baseball podcast. The math is easy, right? BaseCast. Let's rock. The NL West is one of baseball's most intriguing divisions heading into the final weeks of the season. The Dodgers have cooled some after an extended run as the best team in baseball, while the Rockies and Giants have traded the wild-card lead as they lurk on the fringe behind Los Angeles in the standings.
Listen in after the jump as FanHouse's Jeff Fletcher and I try to make sense of Colorado and San Francisco, and then hear Fletcher's interview with someone who sees the Dodgers up close and in person every day -- Josh Suchon from 790 KABC in Los Angeles.

Jeff Fletcher danced around the facts and dogged the Giants more than need be. To state that the Dodgers are a much better team ... to state that Randy Johnson will never start another ballgame ... Just stupid to talk like the three starters of Lincecum, Cain and Zito aren't the best 1-2-3 starters in the NL West (if not MLB) shows what he knows about baseball. He rates the Rockies starters as 3's yet somehow rates their pitchers as better is a joke! To blame the ballpark on the Rockies not having a dominating or 2.2 ERA pitcher is simply stupid. Face it ... it is about who gets hot in the last month of play. The one thing he did touch on but lightly is that the Giants had their 4 and 5 starter in the first two games of the series against the Dodgers which said a lot of what happened. The Giants have as good a chance at being the NL Champions if they get hot and gell in the last month of play. They can beat LA, the Phillies and St Louis in a short series easily with the starters they have and have BETTER pitching than any of those teams. Then Fletcher defends Manny and his steroid use because he is "a goofball" kind of guy is just LAME! To condone Manny and dog Bonds shows how STUPID and factless he bases his opinions on!

The Dodgers are overrated... any of the teams can beat them, because they have better pitching.
