The greatest mystery in the history of Chicago has finally been solved. The Cubs fan who dumped a beer on Philadelphia Phillies centerfielder Shane Victorino's head at Wrigley Field on Wednesday night has turned himself in, and now the people of Chicago can now rest peacefully at night without fear of someone pouring a beer on them.Johnny Macchione was the kid who wasted his beverage on Wednesday, but after Wrigley Field security grabbed the wrong man, he was able to sneak out of Wrigley undetected. Then on Thursday it seems his conscience -- or the fact that there was videos and pictures of him everywhere -- caused Macchione to turn himself in and face the music.
A Bartlett man has been charged with two misdemeanors after a daylong search for the Cubs fan who threw beer on a Philadelphia Phillies outfielder during Wednesday night's game.
Johnny Macchione, 21, was cited for battery and illegal conduct within a sports facility late Thursday. The college student's face had been splashed across the Internet and television after the team announced it had ejected the wrong man in the incident and was looking for the real culprit.
"Chicago Cubs, I'm sorry I disgraced you," Macchione said as he left Belmont Area police headquarters after being charged.
Considering the Cubs were just swept at home by the Phillies by a combined score of 22-9 and have lost seven of eight, I don't think they need any help disgracing themselves, though I'm sure they appreciate the sentiment. If Macchione is convicted on both misdemeanors he faces a maximum of 544 days in jail.Which is a very long time for pouring a beer on somebody's head, so I'm guessing he'll get probation and banned from Wrigley.

maybe now these moronic fans will come to realize that they are at the game to watch, cheer and boo if they so choose but when you step over that line and thrust yourself into a play that you will be punished. Let this scum sit in Cook County for the full 544 days as a lesson tto the next idiot. Enough is Enough

I think part of the problem exists because people such as the writer of this story present the actions as NO BIG DEAL. When in fact it is a BIG DEAL. Shane Victorino or any other ball player does not deserve to have any thing thrown at them. This 21 year old kid as the writer sugest should be the example for all others who have little or no respect for people. LOCK HIM UP!!!!!!!!! along with the writer of this story, just for being stupid and ignorent.

You commenter's want to give this bore some real hard time. How about if he is made to stand under the bleachers at Wrigley and the whole Phillies team: players, coaches, bat boy, Phillimanic, office people, anybody and everybody employed by the Phillies get to dump a beer on him. Lesson learned.

GIVE ME A BREAK! THY'RE GOING TO PROSECUTE A MAN FOR POURING BEER TOWARD A BALLPLAYER? WHY THEN DON'T THEY PROSECUTE A HOCKEY PLAYER FOR HIGH STICKING OR BASEBALL PITCHERS FOR INTENTIONALLY BEANING, OR A BATTER FOR USING IS BAT TO BEAT ON ANOTHER PLAYER?

any player commiting a hostile act causing serious injury to another player or fan would be subject to punishment if charges were filed.
I keep hearing that they should ban this dweeb from Wrigley Field, can someone explain how you can honestly do that. Do you thing the people at the gate will pick him out of the 1000s of people they see each game. If he has season tickets he should lose them and never be able to apply if he was using a season ticket holders ticket they should be held accountable by giving them a 3 strike rule. You first get a warning ,then you get a fine ,then you lose your season tickets forever on the third strike. Maybe this way people that just buy season tickets to resell them will be held accountable and if they lose their season tickets itb might open it up for a regular fan that will be at the games to have a season ticket. Just a thought.

The guy will probably get probation, but he should at least get 40 hrs of community service. What would happen if it was a game turning fly ball during a key game at Saint Louis during the play offs? If he gets off with nothing than everyone will be wasting good beer instead of drinking. It would be like going to a Gallagher show and sitting in the front row. Go Cubs!

Personally, cook county jail is better served for the more violent slime balls.
How bout some community service for the next season mandating he report within 1 hour of the end of a game to remove discarded beer cups and other refuse from the stands and to cleen the public urinals at wrigley?

I agree with many of the writers above. Sending him to jail for this is overkill. We shouldn't take up space and tax payers money to house this guy for 544 days. Instead, fine him, have him do community service and/or have him go to behavior management classes. I don't want to make light of this situation because dumping beer or interfering in any play may have caused injury to the player and possibly change the outcome of the game, but in the same manner I don't think jail is the best way to handle this occurance.

That was totally wrong what he did. The Cubs stink and he was probably frustrated but that's no excuse.
