The Atlanta Journal-Constitution is reporting that the body of a 22-year old man was found on the ranch owned by Chipper Jones and his family in Texas. Jones' father says that the man was found on a remote part of the 10,000-acre ranch that isn't visited daily. He also believes the man entered the country illegally and died as a result of the extreme heat in southwest Texas over the past few months. Jones has obviously been away from the ranch for the past few months himself; he apparently learned the details of the situation through a phone call with his father. Beyond that, there really aren't many details known about the situation. The police have been notified, but there's no word about any investigation.
Without details it's impossible to get a real read on this situation, but the way it's portrayed, it seems like an unlucky happening for someone with a large ranch that sits close to the border. Whatever the case is, it's about the very last thing that the Braves want to hear with six weeks left in the season and just four games out of the wild-card spot.

Why is this "about the very last thing that the Braves want to hear with six weeks left in the season and just four games out of the wild-card spot."
I mean its sad news, but very likely not to have much on an effect on Chipper or the Braves. The Ranch is vast, its the same as someone getting into a car accident near or on your giant parcel of rugged land -- really does not have anything to do with you. In fact, since this person may have been a drifter or illegal immigrant there is not likely to be any family trying to litigate against the Jones' family. That is about the only thing that I can think would have an "effect" on Chipper Jones.
Again, not trying to be heartless here, but its not as though a family member or friend was found dead. Feel sorry for the dead man, but I doubt it hurts the Braves in their chase for the Wild Card. I can just see Bobby Cox distraught in the dugout over this -- NOT.
This happens a lot on large ranches in South Texas. Not to sound harsh but there are many open areas and the heat is just too much. Many illegals attempting to cross the border succumb to this fate. Sad but true.
Wow! I hav heard of jumping the gun but, Who said he MAY have been an illegal alien? Larry "Chipper" Jones father! Not the Police, Border Patrol but Larry Jones's father. It has not been confirmed it was an illegal alien. Let give on alternative theory. How about a 22 year old who was riding an ATM out on Jones's property and was left by friends after an accident. That doesn't make sense...will neither does it for you to jump to conclusions about it being an illegal alien.
this reporter has got to be kidding, the last thing the braves want to hear.im sure that wasnt on that persons mind when he was dying from exposure. the very last wasnt the wild card of the braves on his mind dumb ass rereporting.talk about insentitive regardless no matter who it was
I'm not dead yet!
We need to wait for the forensics results. It may be determined that he was killed by the Brave's tomahawk chop.
Will the illegal's funeral be paid by Social Security benefits, or was Chipper employing him for cheap labor? I am sorry the guy is dead if he is illegal or not. However, if he is illegal, why doesnt he just do the right thing and do the paperwork and become legal? Nobody wants to answer that question. I dont have a problem with immigration, only when its illegal and they are taking up resources for legal residents. I think if I ever get arrested I am going to ask for amnesty for my crime since I am a legal citizen. Surely, i will be forgiven and given all the benefits I need to be a productive citizen.
it takes along time to become legal its a process that can take at least 7 years. and without an american citizen helping you it could take longer, they have no other chance of living since sometimes they need money right away, they suffer alot, not trying to disagree with you in the fact that they take up resources for legal citizens like us but, you know.
Do you have any idea how hard it is to just "do the paperwork and come over here legally"? My husband is from another country and we had to sign an affadavit when we brought his mother over saying we would provide for ALL her needs for the first five years, she would not qualify for ANY government assistance, food stamps, welfare, nothing. The entire process took 4 years. It's not like the old days when boatloads of Europeans just stowed away and came here and went through Ellis Island and then camped out in shanty-towns in Central Park. The government makes it almost impossible for people to come here legally now and the process takes forever and you MUST have a sponsor.
No illegal immigrants receive Social Security benefits, or any government assistance for that matter without a "legal" social security number. And if the government is too dumb to figure out if the SS# they are using is real or not, that's their fault.
Who is the idiot that wrote this article? What does an illegal alien dying on a ranch that is thousands of acres, have to do with the Atlanta Braves? Why try to make something out of nothing. It must be a slow news day.
If all they know is that the man may be an illegal. How can they be sure that he was 22 years old? Has forensics came this far? My guess is maybe they left out something like maybe they know who it was.

&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&& I bet it had something to do with the Braves because it was on Chipper Jones property. ZAP.
When these major league players start owning 10,000 acres ranches, you know that they're making too much money. It's like the player who has a 30 room mansions and along with 5 houses and has never slept in all the bedrooms. As a Yankee fan I remember back in early August of 1977 when police raided Don Gullets farm in Kentucky and found dozen of marijuana plants with street value of over $100,000. Of course Gullet and his wife had not been there since leaving for spring training in March of 1977. He had another house in New Jersey that he had been living in and not had visited. The caretaker who took care of Gullet's house along with a few other people had been arrested. They planted the marijuana between stalks of corn. However, it was found after the marijuana grew higher and faster than the corn. Gullet and his wife were innocent.
Nothing sad about an illegal dying on any Texas ranch. He should have stayed home. He broke our laws when he crossed the border. The bright side is that this illegal won't be having any anchor babies for the American taxpayer to support.
Oh darn...another one bites the dust. One less to scam US citizens. I will save my sympathy for honest, hardworking, citizens of this country...now I'm sure someone will say I am heartless, a real b***,but i'm not. Just so sick to death of the 12 million illegals who come to this country and breed, claim their spawn as US citizens, and get free housing, free medical, frees schooling. Illegals are bankrupting this country.
why did anyone even bother writing this article, there's no information!!
Sounds like you are just a little on the jealous side "Ralph"....you must be one of those who feel "entitled" because someone else has more of something than you have, and you want it. cry cry cry....its not yours...you didn't earn it, you are not entitled to it.
get the hint!!! better get out!!!
Well no that wouldn't work, because that would be costing the taxpayer money right?
