I'm sure you've seen the highlight already -- and if you haven't you can here -- from Sunday afternoon when Milwaukee's Prince Fielder hit a walk-off home run to give the Brewers a 2-1 victory over the San Francisco Giants. As Fielder rounded the bases he untucked his jersey before reaching a home plate that was surrounded by his teammates.Once Fielder got there, he jumped into the air and, as he landed on the plate, the rest of the Brewers all fell to the ground as Fielder stood there arms extended in the air. It was a creative celebration to say the least, but, as you'd expect after pulling a stunt like that, the Giants aren't too happy with Fielder.
The Giants are keeping their mouths shut on the subject for now (though the Angels aren't), but it was obvious in the reactions of some Giants coaches in the third-base dugout. Pitching coach Dave Righetti stared so hard at Fielder as he gave a post-game interview I kept waiting for Prince's head to explode.
I can understand why the Giants would be upset. I know if I was on the team and had to see that, I wouldn't be very happy about it. Still, San Francisco can take some solace in the fact that they did take two of three from Milwaukee in the series and that, unlike the Brewers, they actually have something left to play for.
Besides, do we really know that this was all planned? I mean, it is possible that the entire Brewers team just lost their balance when Fielder hit the ground. In case you haven't noticed, he's not exactly a tiny man. If anything the Giants should probably just be happy that Miller Park didn't cave in on them and everybody else in it.
Though, even if it was an accident, I don't think Fielder should be all that surprised when he finds a fastball in his ribs when the Giants and Brewers meet next season (they are done playing each other in 2009).

Fielder did nothing out of line.....that's just how the game is today....everyone has to one up the next person.....for me, the HR was enough, don't need the home plate drama.....beaning him as retaliation is a joke.

Wow, what a bush league response to a bush league action by a team.
That was a theatrical way to celebrate a walk off win. It looked like fun and maybe to the average fan in Wisconsin, it was cool to watch.
But, it was definitely a rub it in your face derisive way to celebrate a win.
It was putting salt in the wound.
The Giants will remember!!!!
I know that the Brewers, perennial champs that they are, have won a slew of penants, been to the world series a least a hundred times, and won the last fifteen world series in a row; but, act as though you have won before instead of acting like a minor league team.
Bush team!!!!

The real joke is embarrasing your opponent.
He shouldn't get too comfortable when facing the Giants. You hit a homer to win a game -- great!!
Run the bases, have fun with it, but don't taunt the other team with stupid celebrations that is over the top.
He will probably charge the mound when he gets it between the ribs next year, and he will get it.
His father had class and knew how to respect the game. This guy has a lot to learn.

Maybe they should have poured Gatorade on him. The OTHER tired celebration. They all do it, at least this was original.

Maybe he should have just flailed his arms around as he ran the bases, then thrown his helmet and jumped around at home plate for a few seconds.
Pretty lame thing to get upset about if you ask me.

I didnt see anything wrong with it and if anything it was original . Just cant make some people happy. When players act all serious and dont do anything people call them stuck up and only caring about the money. When they have a little bit of fun that didnt hurt anyone , they whine about that too. Its not like they went in front of the Giants dugout and did it .

These ignorant theatrics have already ruined football. Baseball is last last reaming sport with a shred of dignity and class. Why does everything have to become a showboat exercise. be a man and act like you've been there before. Leave your dancing for your nightclubs.

the incredible lunacy of it all, is that these guys are 15 games out of first place, had one decent season (last year, when the Cardinals closers imploded) and they got the balls to show up teams??? They are bush league and will remain that way with these losers attempting to rub an occasional win into winners faces!!!

I agree with the above statement about MLB sinking to NFL and NBA in your face taunting celebrations ... even though any serious fan understands that it's the egomaniacs like Fielder and Manny that sink to such antics. Pointing to the skies and trotting around the bases is one thing but rehearsed antics should be fined and looked at as selfish unsportsmanlike conduct that it is. You can celebrate all you want at home plate but this was BUSH LEAGUE Me-Me BS ... too bad he doesn't have the class that his Dad had. A couple of broken ribs next year might make him think again about rubbing it in the Giants face. Maybe Randy Johnson will sign as a reliever and Fielder can try and dodge a 100+ ribcage high fastball!

So... usually what happens is a bunch of guys wait at home plate for the walk off hero to get in and he jumps into the pile of guys and they all jump up and down together. What's the difference? Are baseball players really that big a bunch of crybabies that they can't appreciate something a little different. They would have celebrated anyway - they just did it a little differently. Way off base to suggest retaliation.

LOL ... Adam ... we can tell you know nothing about MLB. Yes games are suppose to be fun to watch but showing up another team is not called fun. Did you ever play baseball? I bet not. Fielder just showed what a showboat player and the fact that they rehearsed this show where this teams head is at while they are sucking day in and out not even close to being in contention they are practicing showboating ... Hmmmmm ... could that be a clue as to why THEY SUCK SO BAD??? Baseball has shown a little class in the past by not being showboats on these kind of events but of course the young players are all about ME-Me-Me ... so it isn't surprising ... just stupid. You can bet he will pay for it next year ... and yeah ... I hope he gets popped a good one and considers what a ego based BS act it was to do.

This is about the most childish thing i've ever seen in pro baseball. It's worse than the ICKY shuffle or other NFL antics. I think the Brewers should get finded and I hope the Giants throw at Fielder's head next time

Wait, wait, wait a second...Isn't this the same guy who went balistic after being hit in the thigh?
And, now he's pulling this kinda crap.
So Cecil's lil' boy has no problem with showing up the opponent, but doesn't like to be hit by the opponent.

Wow, some people on here need to loosen up. Baseball is a game and is supposed to be fun and entertainment for the crowd. It's been a long season for the brewers' players and fans, what's wrong with having a little fun. I doubt this was meant in any disrespect to the Giants, they are probably more angry at themselves for not being able to score more runs off the worst pitching staff in baseball. It's people who don't realize games should be fun that ruin sports and life for the rest of us.
