Maybe there won't be a classic Brad Penny emotional display when the Giants' right-hander faces the Dodgers, his former team, on Sunday afternoon at AT&T Park.

Apparently Penny and Dodgers' third base coach Larry Bowa, who had engaged in a long distance war of words since spring training, have kissed and made up. Well, minus the kissing part.

Penny and Bowa reiterated their hard feelings toward each other on Friday, before the opener of the Dodgers' series in San Francisco, in separate interviews with John Shea of the San Francisco Chronicle. Bowa also asked Shea to pass Penny his hotel room number, so they could talk. Penny, who joined the Giants a couple weeks ago, is staying at the same hotel.

On Saturday afternoon, the two talked in a hallway at AT&T Park. Penny told the Los Angeles Daily News that all was straightened out.
"Me and Larry talked and it's over with," Penny said. "We both apologize. He wished me the best of luck and I wished him the best of luck.

"That's the last you're going to hear about it.
What started all this? Apparently Bowa questioned Penny's work ethic, saying he should have done more when he was hurt last season in Los Angeles.
"I never doubted he was hurt. The only thing I had a problem with was his work ethic," Bowa said. "If you're hurting, you can still go outside and run. You can still attend meetings. You can help young kids on how to pitch certain guys. You can be on time. That's all. He didn't go to meetings. He didn't do anything."

To which Penny said, "All I will say is whatever Larry Bowa has to say, I don't really care."
