Long considered one of the worst defensive shortstops in baseball by those in sabermetric circles, Derek Jeter won the fourth Gold Glove of his career on Tuesday, proving that no matter what statistically-oriented folks think of Jeter's glovework, he enjoys a good defensive reputation among those within the game.Joining Jeter on the AL Gold Glove team is Yankees teammate Mark Teixeira, who was recognized for the third time, as well as outfielders Ichiro Suzuki (Mariners) and Torii Hunter (Angels), who both won the award for the ninth time.
Tigers second baseman Placido Polanco and Twins catcher Joe Mauer were recognized for the second time, with first-time winners pitcher Mark Buehrle (White Sox), third baseman Evan Longoria (Rays) and center fielder Adam Jones (Orioles) rounding out the team.
The Gold Glove Awards are voted on by managers and coaches from every team, though they are not allowed to vote for players from their own club. The National League awards will be announced at a later date.

What idiots gave Placdo Polanco a Gold Glove over Robinson Cano? He is by far and away the best fielding 2nd baseman in both leagues. As usual screw the Yankees.
i agree with you cano had an excellent year defensively and offensively he deserved the award
Even I don't think that cano deserved the award and I'm a yankee fan. Jeter's award took me a bit by surprise too, but Tex has been nothing short of spectacular on 1st.
As usual Yankees fans believe their whole team deserves every award. The Gold glove is a defensive award. Cano had 12 errors, Polanco had a slumping year with 2 errors.
To all you anti-Yankees out there,in case you were living in outer SPACE,The Yankees are world CHAMPIONS,gold gloves or not.
How in the heck does Curtis Granderson, not win a gold glove? because he is not a name like the others. joe maurer wins one? this is for defense not offense.
yes, i know maurer is a catcher, but their are better defensive catchers than him, plus he missed more than a month of the season....it's a joke!
Granderson lost it in those last few games vs the Twins when he let a couple balls go over his head.
I remember those fly balls and telling a friend of mine that it seemed like Granderson was trying to give the Twins the division all by himself.
im a yankees fan but no way should cano have won hes lazy makes alot of bad plays on easy hit balls maybe this will be a wake up call to play hard on every play!
The yankits bought the award for jeter like they buy everything else.....
If pitching is 75% of the game than bring back a Denny McLain who won 31 games in 1968 without a Mario Rivera to finish the game for him.
